I was chugging along through my ADN program, and was originally set to graduate in May 2010. I had some testing issues in my 3rd semester, and needed to re-take med-surg II after getting accommodations for learning disabilities. Just before beginning the hardest course of the program, I failed the math exam and was booted from the program (you only get 2 chances, then you're out). Of course, I was devistated after working so hard on pre-requisites and in the nursing program. I have spent the past several months trying to get over the disappointment and to figure out what is next.
I would like to apply to other programs so that I can finish up my RN, but the private schools are so expensive, and who knows when I might be accepted into another ADN program (there is a concern about my pre-requisites becomming out of date as well).
Anyone out there been in this situation? What did you do?
Thanks for your help!

I'm sorry this happened to you. But have faith, things really do work out in the end. Think back 5 years ago and compare it to where you are now. Would you have every imagined that 5 years ago? Probably not right. Same thing will happen in another 5 years. Just take this time to assess your life, dreams and goals and it will all fall into place.

I failed my ADN program in 2005 due to personal issues. I then decided that I will go for a BSN instead which was the goal in the first place, I was doing ADN so I could be working while I worked on BSN. I finished up the prerequisites for for BSN and applied to several universities, and got in! I just graduated in May with my BSN, took Nclex right away and am going on my 2nd inerview for an OR position that I am praying hard to get! You can still be a nurse, this is just a set back. Good luck!
Thanks ChocOlate and Rossay.... your words of encouragement were very helpful :)
I know that I just need to get back on my feet and go for my goal!!!
And... congratulations on getting your BSN, Rossay
