Failed nclex 11 times.

Nursing Students NCLEX

Updated:   Published

Hi all.

Just want to share my experince. I graduated in 2011 and have taken nclex for 11 times since then and still failed. I've tried saunders, hogan, and also took Kaplan course but still failed. I feel like a failure. This is all I want to do is to become a nurse that's why I keep trying. I want to retake it again but then this time application process required school transcript and the school want me to take another Kaplan course. I'm devastated. I can't afford the money for another course and the exam. I don't know what to do. I got all the resources from books to cd from previous courses. I'm tired of lying to people that I work in the hospital and feel ashamed of myself of where I am today. Still struggling to pass the nclex.

The liability is too much to be a bedside care nurse.

No, it's not. Those who practice as a prudent nurse should practice will be fine. I've been in practice for over a decade, and only 1 person I've worked with was ever named in a suit. It wasn't even malpractice- it was a homicide trial where the defendant was disputing chain of evidence for the bullet we removed from the victim during the (unsuccessful) surgery.

??? Says who ??? I guess you should warn all the bed side nurses to that may lose their license.

That mentality is thoroughly over done. In my 7 years of being a nurse I have never once had the BON come after me. Most of the nurses who have actions taken against their license(s) intentionally did something wrong. Lying to the BON, intentionally harming a patient or being inebriated at work/stealing meds.

I only know of 1 nurse personally that got in trouble with the TXBON. That's because she tried to lie to the TXBON & they found out.

somepeople are lucky than others. Somepeople have to struggle to achieve something and some people are lucky or born bright

I am far from having natural book smarts, I always struggled in school. Not to mention I went through nursing school before I was diagnosed bipolar. That made nursing school very difficult for me, but not impossible. I never failed a class & I studied hard for the NCLEX.

This is not about being naturally smart or struggling. Everyone has their own issues. This is about the fact that you will be taking care of people's lives & *to me* it speaks volumes of a person if they cannot master the 1 exam to make you a nurse.

But I am done going back & forth with you because you have shown too many times that you don't listen/take advice & make excuses (like the one above). Trying to explain anything to you is futile & a waste of my time.

do not feel like a failure because you are not. i have known many people who tried to get into nursing school and haven't reached that point. you have already accomplished what many have wished for. always think of that an try to keep those negative thoughts away. i failed my nclex on the first time, and i was upset, however, this must be done, and the only way to do it is just to keep going. Always think you can do it because you can! so never give up!!!

There is a difference between failing once & 10+ times. It has been proven every time you fail the higher the likelihood is you will continue to fail.

At this point, it's been almost 6 years/10 attempts and you still haven't passed. You either have to go back to nursing school or pick a different career. At some point, enough is enough. Frankly, I'm surprised that there aren't strict limits on the number of NCLEX attempts.

Not everyone is cut out to be a nurse, regardless of what many on this board say. Sometimes it take more than a "calling". It doesn't make you a bad person, but 6 years of this has got to be enough.

Since I failed NCLEX 14 times, am being told to pursue another career because I'm not passing NCLEX
