failed the nclex 4 times!!! need help/motivation

Published

I have tested four times over the past year and while I have done a little better everytime I still have not had the ultimate success. I am starting to really get down about the whole deal. I really need one on one help as I think that sitting at home by myself all day trying to study is obviously not working. I have not wanted anything more in my life than to be a nurse and while I know all things will happen in his time, im really starting to panic as my schools loans are creeping up at an increasing pace. if you have any positive advice/help or are near the okc,ok area and would like to study please let me know.

I'm in the exact same situation

There is a book called test success: test taking strategies for the nursing student, i would read front to back this book or a book like this. Chances are you have psyched yourself out and are overthinking every question. Try not studying the content for the few weeks before the exam and just go over the strategies. Don't tell anyone your test date once you schedule it. Go to bed early the night before and get to the test site a little early. Do something to relax yourself that morning and don't do any review that day. Do whatever will work for you to not psych yourself out.

The NCLEX really isn't testing to see if you know every lab value, every med, every disease process, it wants to know if you can be a safe nurse, recognize when something is really wrong, prioritize, and such. Pay attention to what the question is asking you to answer, do not focus on the details you are unsure about. If you are unsure of an answer, prioritize the answers with A,B,C's, rule out answers that say all or never, use the test taking strategies to work through the question instead of just arbitrarily guessing or getting worked up . Hope I am making sense. You CAN do this. Go in there knowing that. Good luck!

Is it test success for beginning nursing students

That sounds like the book. There is an entire series of books-fundamentals success, med-surg success, psychiatric, pediatric...i bought all of them. The tests success book explains all the strategies really well though.

I used Kaplan Qbank exclusively. Keep practicing is the key. Also remember to breath and take breaks during your exam.

I would agree that practicing how to answer nclex style questions is important.

I bought nclex 4000 when I was taking the nclex for the 2d time, and just kept answering questions it is what helped me the most. Its not so much the content its the way the questions are worded and this nclex 4000 mocks the nclex questions. I knew the information but the questions are tricky and that was before they changed it to "answer all that apply" questions, I had them but they were not the bulk yet.

Try kaplan q bank and trainer..answer questions not lower than 100 per day and its rationale.. When youre there having your test breath..and pray for wisdom! Dont mind the one sitting next to you..you have your own pace..you have your own questions to deal with..3 tips pratice .. Breath and pray pray pray ! GOD IS GOOD! remeber the Lord says.. For i know the plans that i have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you' ... Focus on that promise!

You will make it through this storm my friend. Just proclaim it and keep positive. It is a blow to self esteem and it seems like the road will never it but all things will come to an end and you will PASS this nclex. I know how it is to worry about those loans and I'm pretty sure the majority of us nurses do. I am praying for you. I have on my heart to tell you that your journey is your journey and when you are blessed it is yours from the one above. He will pour out blessings from the windows of Heaven that you may be over filled with no room to receive. If you need to, take a mental break for a few days to recharge yourself. Find what motivates you and let that be your fire to keep you going every single day until you can test and let the Lord or whomever your higher power, do the rest.
