  1. Look over your weak areas starting with Qtrainer 1-3. Those are just knowledge level questions to see if you are not understanding the content. Do you use the decision tree? If so qt 1-3 would be good to practice since they are supposed to be "easier". You will see your scores increase if you look over rationales and then look up the content immediately to cement it. I agree with PrettyLady87. Keep it up.
  2. Learn each med by category ex. antihypertensives. anticonvulsants. Look at what they do in general and then see if there is something different that one med may do or cause. All of those meds can be overwhelming so think of it as a whole. I noticed that a lot of the questions that I got wrong because I didn't know that certain drugs were in a class. Some drugs may not have a prefix of suffix that makes it identifiable and you just have to find a way to remember which class it's in. I made note cards and would randomly test myself to see if I knew the meds. It's all about repetition and memorization with meds.
  3. Congrats in advance! On other discussion topics I've read of people saying to google Kaplan question trainers and they are posted for free. Not sure because mine was adding with my tuition . Saunders is good too.
  4. You will make it through this storm my friend. Just proclaim it and keep positive. It is a blow to self esteem and it seems like the road will never it but all things will come to an end and you will PASS this nclex. I know how it is to worry about those loans and I'm pretty sure the majority of us nurses do. I am praying for you. I have on my heart to tell you that your journey is your journey and when you are blessed it is yours from the one above. He will pour out blessings from the windows of Heaven that you may be over filled with no room to receive. If you need to, take a mental break for a few days to recharge yourself. Find what motivates you and let that be your fire to keep you going every single day until you can test and let the Lord or whomever your higher power, do the rest.
  5. Alysa, you have to stay positive. It doesn't matter if you are a foreigner or not my dear, you will rock this nclex! Now the tests that you have been doing what are the specific areas? Look over those areas for example if you see that you are constantly getting cardio questions wrong look over that. If it's a particular procedure or dx test then look over that such as CABG because you may not be sure about the content. You have to know the content in order to critically think about a question. What I did was took a 50 question test (I did Kaplan program) and reviewed rationales for RIGHT and wrong answers. If I got something wrong I would talk it out with myself as to why I got it wrong. I would ask myself, "How did I come to this answer? What's the difference between my answer and the right answer? I would then look at all of the answer choices one by one and see how does it relate to what the question was asking. I would look it up in the Kaplan review of content book because I did not want to forget it. You have to think like nclex wants you to think. There are subtle differences in answer choices and it could be one wrong word in the answer choice that you may have chosen or it may not be what the "stem" of the question is looking for. I used Kaplan and some of Saunders but mainly Kaplan. Use a resource and stick to it. I'm not sure what resources you're using but for Kaplan, I took only my weak areas such a health promo and main and then reviewed and questioned until my scores came up and then I did every category according to the nclex plan. I hope that I'm not confusing you because I surely confused myself .
  6. Kaplan, Kaplan, Kaplan! I took Kaplan and really thought that it helped with the nclex. I feel that it helps with the critical thinking necessary to pass the nclex. I've also listened to Hurst review and thought that it was fantastic for helping me connect content but as far as questions for the nclex, Kaplan is good. You need to know what specific areas you are weak in and Kaplan breaks those areas down. For instance, I knew that I was weak in health promo and main because I wasn't meeting the specific benchmarks for those. I would then go and watch content videos on Kaplan and follow along with the book. You want to be efficient with studying and know that you can't possibly learn everything but you can critically think to the right answer. Then again it depends on your preference because there are others who have just taken Hurst review and passed. You have to decide if you want more content based or more question based and then make your decision from there. Hope this helps somewhat because they are both good programs.
  7. It is accurate ! I took mine 11/2/13 and later got the good pop up after my results came off of hold. So CONGRAAAAAAATSSSS!!!
  8. Congratulations!!!
  9. I agree with what was just stated. I understand that you are nervous and do not want to find out, BUT NOT finding out is bondage especially if you are able to. Try to relax a little bit and if you feel ready to do the PVT, then do it. Sounds like you have prepared yourself the best you could and I am looking forward to hearing the good news from you :).
  10. Thank you and sure I will post them below. Question Trainers: 1. 60.% 2. 66.7% 3. 65% 4. 67.3% 5. 62.3% 6. 60% 7. 61% Sample Tests: 1. 60% 2. 74% 3. 93.3% Priority 4. 40% SATA Qbank average 60-65% Sometimes I got low 50s to high 50s as well but on average in the 60s. kaplan recommends that you get 65% on QT 1-5 and 60% on QT 6 and 7. What exacly are your trainer scores? From the range of 58 - 65% seems good just make sure to see what topics you are struggling with to at least have an idea abut it. I suck at SATA and I had a ton of those questions maybe 20-25 and I still passed so don't freak out. Trust the process with Kaplan.
  11. Kaplan's questions will help you develop the necessary critical thinking. In my opinion, they were not similar. Remember NCLEX is computer adaptive and it depends on how you are doing. If you find yourself being lost, just go to the strategies you've learned with Kaplan and trust that they work. If you didn't use the strategies, stick with the way you've been answering questions on Kaplan. I struggled because while taking the exam I was guessing the level of difficulty of the exam instead of focusing on each question as I got it. I can't really get into detail about the questions but what I can suggest is be prepared as best as you can. You are not going to know everything and that's fine, that's why Kaplan helps with the criticial thinking so you can think your way through something you have no idea about. Don't over do it because it will be counterproductive. You got this and keep pushing through until the end my friend Please keep me updated!
  12. Anytime my dear and Congrats in advance if not already!
  13. Hello, I am new to posting on this forum but not new in reading it. This site has given me courage and hope especially the days before my nclex-rn exam. I felt that I'd give someone out there some words of encouragement. My graduation date is a little bit funky. I was finished with school Aug. 16th but technically graduated Oct. 14 this year. My school had us pay for Kaplan (sneaking it into tuition) but I don't regret that. My kaplan course was supposed to be the week of Aug. 16th but was pushed back to Sept.9 -13th. So I truly had no motivation to study because in my mind I had to wait to take my exit exam through Kaplan, which was Sept. 13. On top of that, I worked. My husband and I struggled financially and with blessings here and there and working our butts off at our jobs, we were able to save up so that I may register for my exam. I studied off and on from Sept 14th and finally got serious about 2 and half weeks ago when I realized that time is ticking and I held the key to my success. In those weeks I did Kaplan every single day and when I say a drag, I was dragging my tail to study. I became so tired of the same ol' routine everyday but I knew that I had to do it. I studied about 8-10 hours a day with no day off until the day before my exam. I did Kaplan's program with the question trainers and the qbanks. Don't burn yourself out. If I could change things I would have taken another day off during the week. I felt like my studying became counter productive and then I was back tracking. This increased my anxiety level before the exam. Exam day, I was nervous that I was sweaty on my body. I was extremely tired since I could not sleep that night. I knew that I had to calm down and wake up so before I went in to the testing room, I went to the bathroom to compose myself and make sure that my IBS wasn't going to get in the way :). I sat down and midway through my exam I had to use the bathroom again OMG. So long story short, I had 75 questions about 2.5 hours and results on HOLD!! I took the exam Nov. 2 at 3pm and last night I recieved the good pop up while on the toilet because my IBS started acting up when I saw that I was able to review my unofficial results . The point is just have faith in your abilities. Sometimes we doubt ourselves and if we go in thinking that we will FAIL then we will FAIL. Positive self talk is such a powerful tool. If you put in the work then you deserve nothing but the best. I struggle with esteem issues but because I constantly tell myself I will make it, I proclaimed it and it happened. To those who were successful, congrats and this is only the beginning. For those who were unsuccessful, this is not the end for you. If you desire to help people and feel that it is a calling for you, then don't quit. It is hard to start back up after all of the hard work you have done and I can not relate to your pain but I can be a person who can give you inspiration and uplift your spirits when you need it. I love people and my goal is to help so I figured that I'd give some encouragement to you all. May your journey be blessed.
