:oListen to me PLEASE LISTEN TO ME. Do not quit!!! I am speaking from NurseHubby2Be point of view. My Fiancee failed it 2X.......i have been through this moster of a battle for over a year with her. She also graduated in 2010. I have sat with her, held her, cried with her but still we got through it. She finally passed today!!! Yes we tried the trick and YES IT WORKED!!! DONT GIVE UP. I reached out on this site and we were given the advice to try the Hurst review course. I quickly enrolled her and sent her where ever state it was in and I am proud to say it did wonders for her. She told me her self. They broke things down to you and made it so easier for you taking the test. They teach you how to answer the questions among other things. We were also told to review at least 2000-3000 questions before the exam. WE did 2500 questions the month of April. Every night 7 days a week we had Q cards/index cards from B&N and we reviewed them. We had other questions as well. Trust me it works. Dont give up!!! I didnt let her give up and i wont let you give up!! The reward is waiting for you but you got to fight through this!!!!!!! you can do it. She took it 2 days ago and it stopped at 75. She was a nervous wreck when she got home. She cried all night. Next day yelled. She was soooo stressed out!!! She didnt know how she did on some parts of the test. Well guess what she passed and again the trick worked! Dont give up !! you can do it............i have studied with her through all nursing school and all these board test. You can do it but you have to stay positive. Thats the key and also Prayer is always good................All things are possible with him!!!!
Give God the GLORY...TAKE HIM IN THERE WITH YOU AND you will be fine........Faith is the key and preparing yourself before........................Hurst review and questions questions questions questions questions questions questions.........i cant stress that enough.........EVERYBODY WE TALK TO THAT PASSED OVER THIS PAST YEAR SAID THEY DID QUESTIONS QUESTIONS QUESTIONS.......
LAST TWO TIMES SHE TOOK THE TEST WE DID ABOUT 200 QUESTIONS SHE FAILED BOTH TIMES........CUT OFF AT 85 ONCE AND 265 THE OTHER TIME
THIS TIME WE DID 2500 QUESTIONS THE MONTH OF APRIL...............RESULT........STOP AT 75 AND SHE PASSED!!!!!
YES DONT GIVE UP ..........QUESTIONS QUESTIONS QUESTIONS:up::up:

thanks!, i do get very motivated everytime some tells me i need to keep going. i need to prove to myself i can do this. i love nursing its just so frustrating!!!!! but then i think i went to nursing school i can do this i can do this!!!!!! with that being said i have a couple of questions:
1. is your wife rn/lpn? (i'm lpn) if she is lpn their is a new test (april 1st) did she take that one?
2. why do u think u your wife didnt pass the previous times?
3. what should i study now?.....i mean everything has failed and ihave heard great things about hurst. so what did u guys take was like a month review course? books and cd?....idk please tell me what u took
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i appreciate you for reaching out and helping me thanks it means more then u think really!
hi i just took the rn exam and passed ....i have 11 yrs as an lpn...I bet i could help you. I passed both on the first try. It must be how you are studying, I bet over studying. I only used HURST REVIEW and SAUNDERS. Remember its all in how you attack the questions. Looking for the clues in the stem of the questions. Critical thinking...none the less. The college I attended everyone took the hurst before leaving and also we had hesi's which to me was harder then the nclex. Would like to give you pointers....and save you some money, I'm sure it's not cheap for the retaking of nclex.
thanks everybody is recommending Hurst it seems like a good review! thanks how long was it like a month?
hi, i just passed my nclex this april. failed two times. what i did this time?
1. read the whole content of saunders 5th edition book, and finished the cd on the study mode;
2. practice the study mode of nclex 4000 ( finished everything)
3. read the content book of nclex cram and answer the quizzes after each chapter, did this twice
4. finished answering the questions of nclex cram practice questions and cd, read the rationale and did it twice
5. finished answering the LaCharity, read and analyze the rationale and did it 3x
6. Memorize the lab values one day before my exam date
7. Memorize the mnemonics two days before my exam date
8. Spend 15 hours to study( i am a foreign graduate)
9. 30 minutes everyday to pray
10.Believe in yourself and put notes on my room saying: "i Minute of success can erase months of failures, i will be an RN"
it greatly helped me.. Do not give up. you will beat this nclex thing the next time
I'm going to agree with everyone else about questions, questions, questions! Ask your classmates if you still keep in touch with them for their review books and do those questions. Search the internet for test taking skills. When I was in nursing school, in my study group there were several people who grasped concepts better than me, but I would do better on the test because I have always, luckily, been a good "test-taker" and have never had test anxiety (until I took the NCLEX-RN however) The good news is that being a good "test-taker" CAN be learned. Do a practice test then do some research on test-taking skills and then take another practice exam (a different one) and see if you do better, then you'll know if it is knowledge or test-taking ability/anxiety.
When I studied for both the NCLEX-PN and then the NCLEX-RN, all I did was questions, then on the ones I missed, I would read the rational to see why that answer was more correct
Above all, PLEASE don't quit! You have the knowledge it takes to be a nurse...it's in your head and we just need to figure out how you can access it while you are sitting in that chair taking the exam!

It can't hurt and maybe a former instructor could give you some hints about what to do. Be proactive! Is there an LPN refresher course you could take? It would be more indepth than a review class.
