Failed NCLEX RN 3 TIMES

Published

I am an overseas registered nurse. I was one of the high scores university students on registered nurse exam. However, I failed 75 questions three times again .... my 3rd-time last ten questions were all priority questions. Before I did the NCLEX-RN, I checked all the websites were saying priority questions towards the end which you are above pass line. I thought I had more chances to pass this exam. So I was QUITE CONFIDANT and trying not to pay PVT because it only shows pass or fail. Nevertheless, I have not received NY nursing official letter over two weeks then today I checked PVT that it showed fail again. I followed people who passed the exam suggestions- got a Saunders RN book(read over three times before exam), Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment and had done over 400 questions no matter books and Q banks. I need more suggestions from you guys, thank you.

If you failed in 75 questions for the third time, it indicates you really need to reevaluate your study plan.

I found uWorld to be really helpful with loads of similar questions and detailed rationale. Also, it won't drain your piggy bank.

Sorry to hear that, but stay positive and study differently this time. I used Kaplan live review course, Uworld, Sanders, la charity and many more online free questions.

Pray and believe in yourself. You will do great. I will be praying for u and please let me know when you pass. God bless!!!

I think the problem is that you're most likely not practicing difficult enough questions. While Saunders is great, reading it from cover to cover doesn't assure that you'll pass since there's SO much information included in that book and the questions really aren't all at NCLEX level. The trick to passing NCLEX is knowing how to take the test, not knowing all the facts (which is impossible).

I absolutely suggest using UWorld -- their questions are just about on par with NCLEX difficulty and will give you the ability to reason out all of the different type of questions that you'll get on the test. I suggest finishing the QBank entirely, and then give yourself enough time to go back and locate your weakest areas; from there, focus on improving those. I truly believe that the NCLEX hones in on our weaknesses, and primarily tests us on that. So for example, while I was studying, it was clear that Med/Surg and Critical Care concepts were my weak spots (while L&D, Psych, and Pharm were my strengths). I made sure to only focus on my weak areas 2 weeks out from the test and my NCLEX basically exclusively had Med/Surg-related priority questions (only 2 pharm questions, but were also priority). So I believe that utilizing UWorld and my other resources to review my weak areas helped me to pass in 75.

So really, my best advice is to answer as many questions as possible. My professors recommended we answer 3,000 before testing; I ended up answering close to 4,000. I also suggest getting the app 'NCLEX Mastery', it's not as difficult as UWorld, but they offer about 2,000 questions and it's great for answering questions on the go (like when you're waiting for coffee, have a small break from work, etc.).

thank you, i will try Uworld this time. i got my official result that they were all near pass standard again. really really.......

U world is all you need. If you already have a content book (I.e. Saunders or other) then use that as a reference when you get questions wrong on uworld. I passed with 75... and 90% of the time I utilized uworld. It's really good and worth my $80 one month subscription.

Hello, I would really recommend using Uworld. I took the nclex 3 times and failed 2x with 75 questions, the second time with 111. During those tries I would study multiple sources such as hurst, Kaplan, remar, DPA, and while those are all great sources to study, I just didn't feel like I was getting anything from them. Hurst and DPA did help me the most though so if you have access to them, Great!

I took my exam for the 4th time on October 14th and Passed!! the only source I used was Uworld. I studied for 2 months straight, 3-6 hours a day. I would do 75 -150 questions a day in blocks of 25. What really helped me was making flash cards of every wrong answer I got! I would make sure to read the rationales, and the answers I got wrong as well as the learning objective. Even If I answered a question right but wasn't to sure about it I would make a flashcard! Good luck! Hope you pass this time around and don't loose hope! You can do this!!!
