Nursing Students NCLEX

Hi everyone,

I have failed NCLEX RN twice now :crying2:. I don't know what my problem is! Both times I have completed the whole test; this is very frustrating to me. I am starting to think maybe this is not for me?! I did very well in school and have been told I'm great in the clinical setting. This test may just be the death of me!! I have studied mainly off Kaplan and Hurst review. I feel comfortable with my knowledge base but for some reason can not pass this..any suggestions out there?!! Please I need help! Thank you.

thanks!!! good luck to you!

hi, i'm new to this thread. sadly, i'm one of those who failed a couple of times already. i recently took my fourth time this week and failed it again, it was so depressing, head draining, body aching, mind clouding feeling. i'm planning to take it again by the end of this month, as long as my memory is still fresh. i don't know what got me, i've been preparing for a couple of months and still nothing works out, i get 70-90% or sometimes 100% on q-bank of kaplan and knowing i failed is just so devastating :crying2:. my parents doesn't talk to me, i'm embarrased to be with my RN-already friends. in about less than a week i'll begin studying again but not as much as before to decrease the anxiety and mental pressure, is it alright? i mean, can you give me your insights on how to deal with this again? how to start and what to start again? i'm really determined to overcome and pass this test and i'm considering this 5th time as my last one, please give me some advice and what you think about it, i need to pass by this month again.to the recent passers, can you give me an insight of the topics you've encountered just to give me and idea? i'm really depressed right now but so determinde to get my revenge as well. it's time i get my license back. thanks so much! :o

Have you considered a kaplan review course? A co-worker has loaned me her kaplan review course book and it went over a great deal including meds that you need to know for the nclex. Take some time off to relax and don't rush into taking the exam again. Invest in an actual kaplan review class--that will give you an opportunity to ask and get your questions answered.

I feel sorry that your parents aren't talking to you anymore, that has to be a big burden on your shoulders.

When you take the test again, leave the stress and negative issues at the door, you need to be as calm as possible. Good luck!

i did, i had the new book, read and studied it, applied it in the qbank which i did very well. the reason i want to take it as soon as possible is i want to keep the contents still fresh in my mind because i really did studied it by mind and heart. if i will let time pass by, it will drift slowly and my focus as well. i'm planning to go back to the book of kaplan and qbank again and i don't need to pressure my mind right? i think that's what has brought me down, pressure and anxiety. i'm giving myself a couple of weeks to prepare again. what do you think of this idea? please give me insights on how to handle this and i appreciate it. and thanks for replying by the way.:o

Everybody's studying strategies is different, but to help retain information, I can't cram. You'll probably need more than a couple of weeks of studying. What worked for me is studying 1/2 hour-1 hour a day and afterwards go over in my mind everything I studied for that day--> kind of like giving myself a quiz. Then I'll do the same thing the next day. 1-2 days out the week, I'll give my brain a break from studying and enjoy myself with my family and/or friends. That made me less anxious during the test and I was able to remember a lot of the information that I've studied.

Good luck!

i changed my name by the way because of the RN stuff. i see. are you working by the time you were studying? i usually study like 5-6 hours a day, 6 days a week, sundays with my family and friends. and yeah, i do what you do too, study a content then do quizzes of that content. i did kaplan qbanks too. and saunders. read those two books and their questions. and i really think it's the anxiety that got me cause during my last test, i can feel my body palpitating out of nervousness again. i got jittery. what i'm working out right now is my relaxing strategies.yeah, you are right, maybe i'll just do it like a couple of months and not rush myself. thank you for being there, right now, i really just wanted someone to talk to. my friends have been busy working already. do you have any friends who recently took the test and can give insights about what came out?:o

That's good that you are exercising. I think if you are experiencing anxiety it will help. Exercise will also help you think more clearly. You might need more help than that though. You might look into some herbal supplements for anxiety or even go see a doctor. I know of a couple of people who took some antianxiety meds for the test. Hope that helps you.

Hello,

Try not to stress!!! I have taken the boards numerous time and never felt defeated. Do you best, read each question carefully.

I took the "Review for Nurses" online....it really helped me as I am a visual learner....and I just found out that I passed at 75 question.....I too took the NCLEX multiple times and every time I went right to 265 questions..and knew when I left the testing center that I had failed. This time was different, I knew those questions and the questions that I didn't know, the class online allowed for me to know how to pick the correct answer.....Hope that helps...

frustratedcanrn,

congratulations to you!! question for you, the "review for nurses" online you mentioned, you happen to have the website, when i do a search all kinds of things come up. i am a visual learner as well, and have taken the nclex several times before and feel so defeated. so i'm really encourgaged that this website you mentioned may help alot.

OP!!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THIS ISN'T FOR YOU!!! YOU MADE IT THROUGH NURSING SCHOOL!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Just keep trying!

Question.. what is your schools nclex pass rate for the first time?
