Part 2, Not that I want to go back to nursing but......
I'm doing peds private duty to! I love it. I don't care if it's a high paid babysitting job. I'm done with the stress and the drama and the crap I've been through. Maybe in a couple of years I'll get bored and want something using more nursing skills but for now this is perfect.

Part 2, Not that I want to go back to nursing but......
In the other thread the OP mentioned taking off work alot because of being ill during her pregnancy so I don't consider that lying. Anyways if asked, she can give whatever answer she feels comfortable with. I read the article and checking with the former employer what their policy sounds like a good idea. I worked at one hospital where my manager had told me their policy was to only give last date of work but that she'd give me a good reference. The LTC place I was at also said they can only give out last day of hire and that the person is eligible for rehire. So I guess it depends on the place.

Part 2, Not that I want to go back to nursing but......
I read your other thread and I am so sorry about what happened to you. This situation you described doesn't sound right. I would take the advice other posters offered about calling the Labor Dept. and talking to a lawyer who specializes in nursing. It sounds to me they don't want to pay for maternity leave. The other thing is employers are not supposed to say you were fired etc. They are only allowed to say when your last day of work was. And you can tell any interviewers you left because of a difficult pregnancy. In my own situation, I made small mistakes, could not do anything right. I was repeatedly called in to the DON's office. Finally I the last mistake was I forgot to yellow out one part of an order that was D/C'd! I had written D/C'd over the order and yellowed out part of it, but the other part wasn't yellowed out. OK????? I was told that I could resign and they would be nice enough not to report me to the board. (dummy me, believing that I could be reported for something stupid like that) I decided to resign. Best decision I ever made. I found a job the very next day - $10.00 an hour more and alot less stress. Later on, I figured out that the actual reason they wanted to be rid of me was I was getting paid more than the other nurses -which I had negotiated with the previous DON because I was the only one with a BSN at that facility.

Transition from Nursing home to hospital...
Where I live, I see job posts from hospitals that want nurses with hospital experience. That makes me think they don't value what you do in a LTC. I know alot of hospitals will take nurses from LTC but not around here.

Bullies
Even though it may not appear so, she has low self esteem and feels insecure. So she is bullying to overcompensate for those feelings. You need to stand up to her. There was a supervisor at my former workplace ( not healthcare) who was a bully. I didn't work under him but had contact with him. At first I let him get away with treating me like I'm stupid but eventually I stood up to him and the bullying stopped very quickly and he actually treated me as an equal.

Failed NCLEX PN for 3rd time..dont know what to do?
A555 - I did to. That's why I failed the first time. You might go to your doctor and see if you can get on anti anxiety meds temporarily. It helped me so much. Eating a balanced diet can help with anxiety also. I find if I eat junk food my anxiety go through the roof.

Failed NCLEX PN for 3rd time..dont know what to do?
I'm sorry you failed again. I think you need to take a hard look at how you are studying and answering questions. You need to fix what's wrong in order to pass. How did you study with Saunders? I think it's a very good book to review content. I read the entire book. At the end of each chapter I did the practice test. If I got less than 75% I reread the chapter. Sometimes I had to reread the chapter four times. I also reviewed how I answered the questions I got wrong. Alot of times it was because I read it too quickly and misunderunderstood the question. So I learned to slow down. Are you memorizing answers? You need to understand the concepts then you can answer any question no matter how nclex asks it. Do you think you might have test anxiety? Anxiety can affect your performance.

so frustrated... what now?
What I did was review my answers and try to determine where I screwed up on missed questions. Sometimes it was just not reading the question thoroughly. Other times it was not reading all the answers carefully. Others were due to incorrect thought processes. If you notice certain areas that you are weak in, review those chapters in Saunders. I don't think you need to go through the whole book again. Sometimes I had to reread a chapter four times till I got it. Also take care of yourself. Exercise and eat healthy. (fresh fruits and vegetables) Those will help your brain function better.

Scared to death about the NCLEX-RN
Don't be so scared. Anxiety can affect your performance. Your scores are actually really good. I think you will find the test easier than Kaplan questions. I took nclex twice. I failed the first time becuase of a severe anxiety attack during the test. 75 questions. I just took it again on Monday and passed with 75 questions.

Very depressed and discouraged....,need help
Marcos9999, I wanted to thank you for the tips. I believe they helped me pass. I also found playing Tetris helped me to think more quickly and it was fun!

Kaplan & LaCharity Scores -- How do you compare?!
My LaCharity scores were mostly in the 60's and I just passed today with 75 questions!!

Very depressed and discouraged....,need help
You might need more content review. I only read the Kaplan book and did questions and I failed the first time. Try Saunders Review 4th ed. That book helped me so much. I did a pretest a couple days ago off the ncsbn site and got a 69%. I just found out I passed my 2nd attempt with 75 questions!!

failed test again
Get your test anxiety treated. I think that will help alot.

New some new study material to pass
I think you should get your test anxiety treated first. Go to your doctor and see about getting some anti anxiety meds. I had a horrible anxiety attack during my test and failed the first time. I felt like my brain was in a fog and it took me 20 minutes to answer the first question. A simple dosage calculation. I went right away to my doctor and got on Zoloft which is helping. I also saw a therapist which also helped. I would also read up on ways to overcome test anxiety. Try visualization. Please don't feel like a failure. You got through school and you can do this!! Also try the book - "You Are Smarter Than You Think You Are" It is useful for anyone who needs to do critical thinking. It helps you discover what kind of learner you are.

Help! How to help a friend who failed nclex? Its been over 1 year since she grad.
That is wonderful that you want to help her. Too many people don't know what to say and just avoid the person when they really need the support the most.
