Hi. I've been out of work due to nursing school and reviewing for the exam. I am extremely frustrated because I have failed the NCLEX RN twice! I don't know what I am doing wrong because I got good grades in class and I studied the saunder's Nclex books and took the Kaplan course. My classmates who didn't do well in school have already passed. So clearly I am doing something wrong.
I am running out of money and I need to work. Can I apply to take the NCLEX PN while my application to re take the NCLEX RN is still pending? Any advise? I really don't want to lose my skills.
Thanks in advanced.

I don't understand why you want to take the PN you are going to have to wait and test for that also. It isn't like the NCLEX PN is that much easier than the NCLEX RN anyways. Just wait and take the RN. Relax don't kill yourself trying to study and stressing over it.
good advice just looking at all my options...

I've taken the NCLEX-PN and probably is going to be just as difficult if not more difficult. Not because of the content, but because of the different scope of practice. If you decide to go that route, check with your BON if it is possible. I think you are better off concentrating on the RN exam. Saunders seemed to be the best of all the books and closest to the boards IMHO. Do you have the CD? Best way to study, from the tutor we have at our facility, is to do 100 questions everyday. Then study a little more in depth those questions you got wrong. I also had a check sheet of lab values, VS values, etc to quickly glance at before I went in for my LPN boards.
Sorry if this is repeat...just throwing some stuff out there.

Hospitals here in Southern California have student nursing positions open for those who have completed at least the first semester of RN school. You don't need your license for these jobs and you can practice your skills for pay. Try searching for one of those positions while you wait to take the NCLEX. Didn't the late JFK Jr. take the bar exam 6 times? He was still a lawyer like any other.
It doesn't matter how many times you take the test. It only matters that you pass.

You will still need to meet the BON requirements for LPN and pay any fees. may be worth just concentrating on RN

I hear northstar learning is good for preparing students for certification exams and is very cheap as well. Good Luck!

I did LPN first then started RN immed after I graduated. SO, I've taken the NCLEX-PN, passed it with less than 90 Q. It was very difficult, and can honestly say LPN was much more difficult program than RN...not trying to throw around one better than or more difficult than the other, but to hear of grads of RN programs not passing NCLEX think they can "just" take the LPN NCLEX and assume pass IT is kind of demeaning.
Just as encouragement, have you seen this thread? One of the posters talks about how s/he prepped for the exam: https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/got-pop-up-439464.html
