Failed the NCLEX after 77 questions

I am new to the site and looking for help. So i failed the nclex at 77 questions, does this mean that i bombed the last questions of the test if they didnt just shut me off at 75. I feel like a failure. I have no idea what happened. I ended on a specialty psych question. I feel terrible. Can anyone tell me what my progress may have been to shut me off at 77. I had 6 select all that apply and 2 pediatric math problems, and a question were i had to look through a chart. Was I at least close. I dont want to give up but failing with 77 really hurts. Thank You

Sorry to hear this. Give yourself a couple of days, then get organized for your next attempt. You can do this as long as you don't give up.

Dont give up!!! I failed the first time with 78 questions....studied like crazy for 45 days and just passed with 265 questions! If I can do it, you can!

Don't give up- I took the NCLEX today too. I don't know how to predict how close you were or not. I had around 17 SATA one med calculation and several contact precaution questions. I came home and did the pearson trick but forgot you had to go through the first few screens and select school before you get the popup- so when it went past the first screen I felt horrible, sick, ashamed, etc cause I thought I failed. It's a hard test- but you had to work hard and be smart to get to this point so just regroup and retake it when you feel you are ready.

thank you for all your support. do you know if i have to contact my state board, or do i just sign back up with pearson vue and wait for another att. i really hope that based on the fact the test gave more questions than 75, that i was at least close and still in the running. Its just a shame to get that huge let down. good luck cailex. congrats nursestudent743. i hope that i will have your success in 45 days. what did you do different the second time around?

each state is different, some do not require you to re register with them but register again with pearsonvue where others require you to re register and pay a small fee before registering with pearsonvue

You only fail if you give up!

Take some time to re-group and then start your study plan again. You have already done the hardest part, which is completing nursing school. There are several posts about suggested study tools here on this website if you need them. You can do this!!!!

This february 22nd, it'll be my second time to take Nclex. Goodluck to the both of us and other test-takers too. We could all do it! :)
