Failed NCLEX PN for 3rd time..dont know what to do?

Published

So I received my NCLEX PN results about a week ago and just finally got out of my shell. Finally had the courage to send in my application to retake and trying to find a plan on passing this time around! Im thinking of taking the Frye's Nclex Review in August. However, they can send me the materials earlier to get moving on studying because I plan on taking the exam again end of August. Last three test materials Ive used were Saunders Comprehensive, NCSBN review, exam cram and La Charity. This time around I really dont know where to begin. If anyone has any intake please let me know. Im always open for new suggestions! Thank you!

I'm sorry you failed again. I think you need to take a hard look at how you are studying and answering questions. You need to fix what's wrong in order to pass. How did you study with Saunders? I think it's a very good book to review content. I read the entire book. At the end of each chapter I did the practice test. If I got less than 75% I reread the chapter. Sometimes I had to reread the chapter four times. I also reviewed how I answered the questions I got wrong. Alot of times it was because I read it too quickly and misunderunderstood the question. So I learned to slow down. Are you memorizing answers? You need to understand the concepts then you can answer any question no matter how nclex asks it. Do you think you might have test anxiety? Anxiety can affect your performance.

I will suggest kaplan review online. Also use lippincotts.studying the rationales of the one you got right or wrong.Your three tests are you near passing or below?if you are near passing for all of them on this third test,i say pracitice more questions and read in details the rationales for each questions.I feel you and i hope you pass next time.Goodluck.

I also failed twice and I think Canggih is right of saying anxiety can affect your performance. I am having same problems before that I am having panic attack whenever my exam is near or even when I just think about NCLEX. I tried to lessen it by working out, usign your defense mechanism wisely (I use diversion) and praying. Right now I am taking it easy and enjoying whenever I study saying that I just dont study for the test but I also learn from it. Goodluck to us!

A555 - I did to. That's why I failed the first time. You might go to your doctor and see if you can get on anti anxiety meds temporarily. It helped me so much. Eating a balanced diet can help with anxiety also. I find if I eat junk food my anxiety go through the roof.

Study as if you had never tested before.

I will start off by telling you that I failed the very first time I took the NCLEX. I used the same books/tools you used. The biggest mistake I made was not taking my time to read and re-read each questions carefully. Another mistake I made was not allowing myself enough time to study before I the took the test. Also, I made the mistake of not researching and looking for the closest NCLEX style questions out there. The final mistake I made was letting anxiety take over me. You have to relax!

However, the 2nd time I took the test, I have to admit that it was SUPER easy for me :D. That's because I studied for the NCLEX using different tools. I had the minimum amount of questions. What I did differently the 2nd time around was Kaplan online course. I had to approach the NCLEX in a different manner in order to study it correctly. Plus, I have to say that the questions on Kaplan online course were the closest to the real NCLEX. Getting use to answering the style of questions on the Kaplan course will better prepare you for the NCLEX. I'm positive.

Good Luck!

BEFORE U TEST NEXT TIME SAY THIS PRAYER AND REVIEW ALL THE BASIC MATERIAL

In return I promise to make you known and cause you to be invoked.

O St. Joseph of Cupertino pray for me
