Failed nclex ---need help about review

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

i just took CA nclex-rn on 6th, Jan and got the failed letter from nurse board.

the pharmacology, leadership and management, psychiatry are below the standard.

what should i do for review again ? could you recommend some good books for reviewing 3 parts? i reaally appreciate.

by the way, pvt works for me, i got CC page before getting the failed letter.

thank you for your time

I had to take the test a second time. I used the Saunders Q & A Review as well as their Comprehensive Review book. Saunders is all I used, I highly recommend them. What I did differently was taking notes and making flash cards. Whenever I came across a med when going over all those practice questions, I wrote it down in a notebook and used different colored pens. I wrote down the med, what it was for, and the info the rationale, highlighting (with a red pen) the facts they wanted me to know about that particular drug. It was nice to have (pages and pages) of drugs to review just before taking the test without having to flip through the book.

I made notes on flash cards and wrote all the relevant info about each subject on that card. Say I was reviewing electrolytes, I'd make one card specifically for each electrolyte and wrote everything I needed to know about it on that card. It helped me simplify things to the point where I'll remember it. Forcing myself to think about it like that, making me figure out how to "dumb it down" (you could say) really did make it stick! And I passed!

The PVT worked for me too; I got the "good pop up" the second time around ;)

I used Saunders too and I just took the NCLEX today and got the good pop up on the PVT

I also used exam cram and Kaplan

Kaplan teaches you how to look at questions

and exam cram gave me alot of questions that I needed

So I read through Kaplan first

Than the Saunders Comp Review and did questions from Exam Cram

when I had free time

So good luck!!!

Saunders and Kaplan are good review books for NCLEX...

Specializes in Derm, Plas, OB-GYNE & Internal Medicine.

Saunders good for content review i highly recommend it but not so much for it practice questions. Kaplan will teach you how to deal with the questions - test taking strategies. LaCharity PDA - good for prioritization and delegation assignment questions. Very helpful. Exam Cram and NCLEX 4000 for practice questions. Will retake on Mar 9. Good luck to everyone testing! We can do this!! :))

i took my nclex jan 17 and did the pvt got the good pop up.. really hope it works.

what i did was studied just how i had in nursing school i had no problem with testing so used my same ways , so if group studying was your thing and it worked do that.

sauders is good for content. i liked that it had meds section for each section say like cardio it has its own med section, very helpful to review the med nursing interventions.

lacharity very helpful with delegation and prioritization similar to nclex style

most important for me was kaplan qts they really are great reviewing rationals most important to do.

i was sooo thankful to have found this website when i was getting ready for nclex because people where so helpful with sharing information.. i have two links that i found extremely helpful i would like to pass on

i hope they help..

i paid for kaplan review and once time limit was done to no longer access q bank i was torn.. so when i was told about this site of free kaplan question i was soooooo happy.. hope it helps

I feel your pain,I'm sorry to hear you failed.. I failed 2x already both in 2008. It's now 2012 and I am taking my 3rd attempt on the 27th of Jan. it's painful and depressing I know. I had that feeling for the last 3 yrs. my adviced to you is take a break a week or 2. And forget about your last failing. Review again as if this is your it's time. This time around you have the advantage you know what it's like out there. Prepare your self this time and dedicate a full review all by your self, review the areas you think you are weak. And most important is PRAY for guidance from GOD above. May I recommend to you if you don't have the following review 1) hurst review2) Kaplan Q banks only3) la charity PDA4) check out the thread in AN. Like infection control and facts I know I haven't pass this nclex but since using all those review materials my Q&A ability has dramatically improved.I just try my best not to answer the question base on my Hospital experience because that was my downside when I took the last 2 testAnd oh by the way I am batch 1994 B.S.N. so don't be disfair. Your still young not like me. Lol. Now cheer up and give us a smile. Goodluck let us know how we can help

congras, you made it!! i'll do my second time on Mar. i still feel sad from my first test. but i'll pick up my courage and did it again. i hope i can be a RN earlier.
