Question. Have any of you ever had any negative findings on your employer reports to the BON. I’m in Mississippi and I’ve been on probation almost a year and haven’t had one til now. I failed to get a second signature when I wasted a narcotic-ambien. I had a clear drug screen. I’m hoping and praying I will be OK. I just sent all of this to the BON . I did talk to my case manager and she said to email her a letter stating what happened and my don is sending her the counseling form they had to do on me. My case manager really didn’t tell me anything other than I may get a letter of concern.
Did u ever have any thing like that happen to any of you? I’m just terrified!
I am confused. So you missed a waste on Ambien which you say is no big deal, but a couple of days a go you asked if Ambien will show up in a drug test. Why would you be concerned if Ambien would show up on a drug test then worry because you didn’t get a witnesses waste. Did you take the Ambien then get caught and worry if it will show on a drug test?
I was very hypervigilant about my narcotics. I was finishing up the day in a pediatric PACU and asked the physician to look my way while I wasted half a syringe. He normally was a super nice doctor but maybe he had a headache that evening. He grumpily signed the narc sheet and I went on my way.
I was not about to ever risk my career over a narc oversight.

Hopefully they will see that drug in question was AMBIEN and that is not normally sold readily. and since you are still working and this is First offense into one year on probation and you had a clean drug test next day. I say evidence pretty much exerronates you! I feel the facility is just going through procedure requirements to show they are doing correct monitoring.
the case manager could not legally state what the outcome would be, this is because they are remaining neutral /not allowed to give advice out. (pya)
Since you are still working I advise to just "calm down" because ANXIETY will lead to phobia and phobia leads to over caution which feeds into making more mistakes.
Most likely your case will result in you receiving a letter of review and at most additional probation time. - Since this first Time I do not even expect extended probation. I expect a letter of review and close monitoring for a few months and maybe have a double check system posted and reviewed with you or inservice on proper procedure to follow. SO CHIN UP! YOU ARE HUMAN! The patient did not receive harm. forgive yourself and move on!
PRAY and believe you are a great Nurse. Wishing you the BEST of all outcomes.
