failed drug test by First Lab

My license is suspended and I call into First Lab daily for random screening. I recently showed up positive for alcohol. Not that I have to convince anyone, but I have not consumed any alcohol in over a year. Anyhow, does anyone know what will happen now. Am I going to permanently lose my license?

I don't believe the state of WV has an alternative/monitoring program....it just goes directly to the state BON.

It's your decision to smoke and risk having to be tested. THC as you know stays in for a long time. And if they test your hair, it would give a pretty good profile of how long you have been using.

I am also metal from the waist down...both hips and knees...and in chronic pain....and have had my own issues....now I just deal with it with NSAIDS....not great but it's all I can do at this point in time.

Anyone who smokes pot with a license is insane. The BON does not differentiate between smoking "a little weed" and shooting heroin. It is all the same to them..an addict, is an addict, is an addict..that goes for ETOH too. Find a better way to deal with your pain..if not..there is about 6 hours of reading posts on this forum from folks like us who thought just a little "..." (fill in the blank)..wont hurt. We have hurt ourselves, our families and friends, and our careers with just this kind of thinking. Wise up now and save yourself a world a grief and pain that will surpass anything you have experienced before.

The WV BON just agreed to legislation that establishes an alternative to discipline program for nurses. Here's a link to the December issue of the WV nursing Newsletter.

Does anyone know if WA state uses the etg test? Also if you go to mass & the test comes back positive (etg test) they can't punish you for that can they? I would immediately request that the 2nd specimen from the split screen be run. I was in the exact same place as you (accused of alcohol consumption when I had been sober for a while). They ran the 2nd specimen and I was cleared. I was ready to pay for a gas chromatography study just to clear my name. I loudly proclaimed my innocence and no one seemed to believe me, so I know the position you are in.

I have been ordered to the chemical evaluation and laboratory drug and alcohol screenings what do they do is the question? How long is evaluation. Written or person? Lab urine, blood or hair? Thank you.

I didn't know EtG was so dodgy. Why are monitoring programs allowed to use it as if it were an absolute indicator of a relapse. I know that if I came up with a positive EtG, they wouldn't take ANY excuse. They said I would have no defense against a positive anything, because they warned me about what could cause a false dirty urine.

RNDynamic, they use it because they CAN. I didn't realize there even was EtG until I started my monitoring program, and when I started reading up on it I wasn't comforted at all. So I just did the best I could to reduce the chances of exposure.
