Hello. I took the AANP last Friday June 10 2016 and failed! Feel horrible. Am working as a np (in California) and my job is at risk. I have a toddler, major depression and anxiety, and a marriage that's on the brinks of falling apart. Not to mention a recent herniated disc and spinal stenosis. Anyways my jog suddenly told us around February this year that we needed to be certified by 'June 1' then they changed it to 'aug'. It was too late to postpone the test.
Well took it 6/10 yesterday and I failed. I studied examedge, leik, some of Fitzgerald, AANP practice exams, and two apea exams. Did prob over 800 questions. This is my second time failing. First was in 2008. I was scoring 68-70% on the predictor exams.
Any help/advice/guidance would be appreciated. I felt prepared for the exam. But the questions were so off from what I expected and my text anxiety kicked in. I'm a horrible test taker. Also I felt this AANP exam was very hard. Heard somewhere that sometime they do that. Is the correct?
Sorry for the long rant. Just feeling terrible and lost. I do plan to take it as soon as I can. Am hearing 5 or 6 weeks? Thanks in advance all! Help please!

Moved to student NP forum. I realize you are not a student but hopefully some current students can help you with current study materials. Best wishes.

I also recently failed boards... Would you mind sharing tips?
No problem, the school made us complete apea review by Amelie hollier, I purchased her book of questions and had access to her online qbank, any question I missed I wrote it down so I could educate myself on the topic, her book has questions on each body system and 3 full length test, worth the $50 bucks, I purchased leik book and went through every chapter and made notes and answered the questions at the end and again made notes on what I missed, I went back through the leik book and made sure I had written down the exam tips at the end of each chapter. I purchased the aanp practice exam scored 79%, not bad but not all that good either. I went back to my apea notes ( if you take the course you print out a syllabus which is more like a book) I read through it several times just making sure I knew the information. At one point like a week before I took the test I was so tired of looking at the material. I made notecards and took them with me. I also purchased the leik app it's called Fnp q and a, it was $20 when I purchased it may be different price now. I think in all I answered about 2000 questions. May be an over kill to some but I really wanted to pass this test the first time I took it. I also listened to apea CDs while I was driving to and from.... Hope this helps.. You will succeed.
Thank you! I'm taking the APEA in a few weeks. I did Fitzgerald MP3 the first time and she didn't go in depth enough on some topics, I relied on her review to help me pass... In turn I failed. I'm distraught... I'm also considering a class on test taking tips perhaps that will help as well... Again, thanks for your tips!
You are welcome. You will pass!!

I have to say I love the Hollier CDs. I have listened to them 3 times now and I learn something new every time. Every day I did the practice tests through the APP FNP someone else recommended and my scores went up dramatically after listening to hollier. I also had the LEIK book and there is a support page on face book for those studying for this exam you might want to search for :)
