FAIL NCLEX RN with 75 question ... need help !!

Published

Hi i do really need orientation. I fail nclex first time with 75 question . I don't know how to practice. I read all saunder's book and also Lacharity and kaplan¿s book. What can you recomend me? Is there a good online review or another good book to read ?

I would appreciate your suggestions ....

Hello & Welcome!

I don't post often, but I think I can offer some advice. If you are failing the NCLEX and being stopped at 75 questions, this tells me there is a fundamental issue with your test taking skills. NCLEX is a fickle test; It will try and try to help you pass. However, if you have gone through so many questions answered incorrectly it will eventually stop you at 75. (The minimum amount of questions to answer on NCLEX is 75). I think seeking out your resources is the first step in resolving the problem and passing boards. Good for you.

Now, I will tell you what has worked for me. I love ATI. I felt very confident in their tests and how similar it is to NCLEX. As you know, NCLEX is not a cheap test so I think it would be worthwhile to invest in ATI testing. If you purchase their NCLEX preparation (which is around $400 or more) they GUARANTEE (or your money back) that you will pass NCLEX. The catch? You have to complete EVERY assignment they give you or the guarantee is null & void. I am not sure how many assignments or tasks involved. It's worth investigating.

I wish you the best of luck! Please let us know the outcome!

I suggest studying hard core. Its exactly that. No need to waste money on $400 books. I stuck with what the school gave me and that was saunders.

What worked for me...8hrs a day at sbux listening to classical music. I know its a bit too much...but its most likely the way your answering question, dont try to memorize the answers its about understanding what the question is asking you. Take your time, and reread the question. Shake off the past and try again. Good luck!

Hello future nurse,

Yes, you can pass this Exam, only with God's grace. Guys let me tell you, if you think you know everything and you not taking Jesus with you, yes we will fail but ONLY Jesus the God can make us go through any situations like this in life. My wife passed her exam only through His grace. So, let me tell you, if you want you to pass this exam or any type of board exams, do fast and give your life to Jesus, and tell him God please I give myself to you. The bible says, Do not lean in your own understanding, trust in God and He will direct your path. Please if your need more help in passing this exams please let me know. I will pray for you and God will help you. I promise. Please let me know if guys need any support.

Hi,

I would say that you had some great resources perhaps you can find a tutor to help determine whether or not you are retaining the important concepts. Since you have taken the exam I don't neccessarily think you need go out and spend tons of money on a group review. Like you stated you need practice to me that involves demonstrating you have the critical thinking skills to answer questions appropriately.

It seems like you have all the resources you need to pass. I know I did the first time but I failed like you at 75 questions. It was the nerves for me but when I changed my strategy on how to attack the test I passed the second time with greater confidence. Have faith in yourself and don't give up!!

The second time I took the NCLEX I failed with 75 questions because I was so nervous I rushed through each question just because I wanted to get out of that room! Take some time to regroup and then start studying again. I like Saunders 4th Edition, NCLEX 4000, Exam Cram and Lippincotts Q&A along with LaCharity. Don't give up whatever you do! Take your time to read the questions and really see what the question is asking! Good Luck!!

Hi there! I know you are frustrated, but a negative result is also a result! Do not give up - you can nail that Test! Now you have an advantage - you've been in that room, you know what to expect!

Now, as for orientation... Just reading books is not enough. Practice, practice, practice! You need to answer as many practice questions as possible and make sure that the percentage of correct answers is no less then 85! It will set your mind in an NCLEX mode. I only used 2 books: Saunders "Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN Test" and Saunders "Q&A Review for NCLEX-RN test". Both are the latest edition I could find. I did all the questions from Q&A book and CD plus I did some Kaplan questions (just questions, I didn't read any Kaplan's books) and couple of Kaplan's practice tests. Also I've found a link to online pharm book (someone posted here on this forum) and for the last week or two I was going through that book, answering questions after each chapter. That's all. Overall I went through 9,000 or 10,000 questions. I passed my NCLEX-RN on November 19th with 75 questions with the first try! I need to tell you that I've got my Nursing education in Ukraine in 1992, never went to Nursing school here in US, so if I could do this - you can do this too! Just believe, practice, make sure you do good while you are answering questions, leave all your worries outside of the test room and take all the time you need while taking the Test. Best of luck to you!!! In no time you will be an RN!

Hello Emmarina,I'm from Ukraine too. please give me advice, i failed first time,July,14 .i studied hard and did around 8000 questions and read Sanders 600 pages and 3000 from CD . Privet Oleg10!

What city in Ukraine are you from? I'm from Odessa.

You pretty much gave an advise yourself already: you need a good rest the day before Test. It looks like you already did a good job on studying, so on a day before Test don't study at all, get a good night sleep, for sure eat something in the morning, do not worry - you need a clear, cool mind, take your time during the Test, do not rush and do not underestimate that little break - you need it! When do you plan to take NCLEX again? I am sure you will pass it this time!

Privet Emmarina. I'm from Rovno obl,Dubno city.I live in Sacramento,CA.My test will in December,29 but i think i need reschedule on January,29 because I don,t have enough time to finish my questions from Sanderson and want to read Kaplan strategy book again and lacharity questions recheck.EKG check, meds, lung sounds. What state do you live in America?Did you find a job?I'm workind as volunteer at our Hospital.I really like this .I learned many new things there.

I am in Houston, TX. Didn't find an RN job yet, because first I need to go through Refresher Course since I didn't work as a nurse for the last 4 years. Good luck on your Test! Keep in touch!
