I just got the email yesterday, after interviewing on Tuesday, that I got accepted for my hospital's externship. I am so excited! I got selected for a rotation known as Outpatient Services, which includes pre-op, post-op, endo, wound care, and pre-admissions. I get to start in the end of May! Yay!
But anyways, anyone have any experience working as an extern? What;s it like? Thanks!
I envy you all. I wanted to do a nurse extern program last summer, but they were all 40 hours and I would have had to quit my current job and take a big pay cut, which I could not do financially. Enjoy your externships and I am sure they will benefit you all greatly in your nursing practice.

I also got an externship in VA outside DC area. I walked in and got asked my GPA, I told her, she said ok your hired, woooow, it was that easy, because not enough people applied so I will rotate through the ICU cardiac and a med surg floor
Sounds a bit like my interview!! Congrats to you, too!!
