expired Ca NCLEX: affected by the new requirements?

World Registration

Published

i passed my Ca NCLEX RN last 2008 and it expired last 2011. the Ca BRN said that my files are abandoned but they kept my nclex result. and in order for me to have a Ca license i need to submit A NEW APPLICATION FOR LICENSURE BY EXAMINATION; transcript from school; the fingerprint clearance and a valid U.S. SSN. i would like to know if i need to submit the new requirements of Ca BRN (copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing and major/minor surgeries

-A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum

-a one page curriculum outline and academic calendar)?

please help..

thanks.. :)

Hi ms.piggy

I'd like to ask about the letter you got and the nclex test result. If they kept it, does it mean you won't have to be taking the test again if the files had been abandoned and you would only have to submit the requirements you mentioned with the SSN? Or do you need to take the test again since it said A NEW APPLICATION FOR LICENSURE BY EXAMINATION? My pass letter is expiring on December 2012 and I don't know what to do.

Hoping for your reply.

You guys might be OK, check out this poster's recent experience, it seems it will depend on what year you received your license in CA.

Good luck and please keep us posted on your adventure!

I sent an email BON of Cali, and there's no need to be afraid that NCLEX passing result will be forfeited.. According to Ms. ****, the licensing officer of BON, they will still keep the NCLEX results and there should be no problem if we would like to endorse it to another state. Ms. *** replied in a matter of 10 minutes! But I think we should endorse it asap since she mentioned "as of now...".

@MissPiggy: your NCLEX exam does not expire. All you need to do is resubmit the school documents you have submitted before. You are not subjected to concurrency issues as you have been given the eligibility to take the exam and you passed. The question is do you have an SSN now?

Hi, I am just curious what happened to your status now. I am actually in the same situation like yours. I called the BON Cali last time, they said they abandoned my files already. So i was advised to reapply again. Its almost 3 months, and I haven't heard anything from them. I am just so worried, that they will disapprove my application, or be affected by their new policy.

Btw, i took and passed the exam way back 2009, letter expired last july 2012, and the lady said, they abandoned the files last september 2012. I came here last year, around June too, and received my SSN. I was trying to endorse here in Maryland, and an agent did it in my behalf. I was so frustrated because I didn't bother to check CAlifornia thinking that I have a pending endorsement in Maryland. I just found out last Dec 2012, that I can't apply for endorsement without a real license from California. I called Cali, and they asked me to reapply again. I am so worried that they will disapprove my application d/t new policy. Please share your experience. Thanks a lot

@mikaela_jan: hi! i'm also in the same situation as you are. Any updates on your application? thanks.

hi @ francis_coup , @mikaela_jan any update on your california nclex situation?

@mabellegamino: I am now working as an RN in an Operating Room here in southern California.

Hi mspiggy what I am also in the same situation as your. Did u guys managed yo obtain your Ca RN licrnse?

Where you affected by the concurrency.

Hope to hear your reply

Any updates to those who were able to obtain a license in California?

My application for initial RN examination has expired with the California Board of Registered Nursing. I'm wondering do I have to restart the entire process over again or do I just submit a new application and $150 application fee. If anyone can provide any infromation on this process for me that would be very helpful and greatly appreciated.
