Experiences on finding a job in NYC

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello everyone,

I am new here and wanted to know if anyone wanted to share experiences and hints on how to get a job in NYC? My husband's been moved to NYC and I have 10 years of experience in surgical ICU but am an RN. I've sent to resumes to different hospital but no feedback.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Opto:

Do you have your BSN? I am not personally looking, but from what I hear most NYC hospital are only hiring BSN's.

Maybe try expanding your search to just outside the city also. NJ is just a train ride away...

Times are tough right now, I wish you luck.

Wendy

Thanks for the thought Wendy. What I really wanted to know was how to go about it. Should I just send my resume or go to the hospitals? Cheers!

More often than not you won't get a foot past most NYC's hospital's HR or nursing department's door, that is if you can get into the building in the first place. Most likely than not you will be firmly but politely directed to their nurse recruiter and or website for employment information.

Best thing for a start is to use the hospital's nursing recruitment website to view current employment offerings, and submit your information. You can also check websites such as glassdoor.com for nurse employment listings.

Perfect, thank you!
