I've just graduated with my BSN, and moved to Brooklyn into what appears to be a completely saturated job market. I've applied to every position I can at every hospital in the NYC area, and no interviews. My plan has now become to find a position through a nurse staffing agency, I figure even if it's temporary it'll give me some experience and pay while I'm still searching for a hospital placement. Does any one have any advice for job hunting in the city, or working with a staffing agency? Also, has anyone spent any time pounding the pavement and handing in an application to a hospital nurse recruiter directly? I thought I might have more success with that then being immediately rejected via online application for not having the correct amount of experience. I'd appreciate any advice, and thanks for your time.

well it seems that going in directly can be your best bet. i did that some years ago and got a job faster that way. online applications can be useless sometimes.

Hi, I see your post is a little over one year old....I'm curious about your situation currently. Did you find your hospital job? Tried an agency? any tips would be appreciated. I'm trying to find a job as a New RN in NY, but no luck yet. Thought about going in person to handle resumes but not sure....... hope to hear from you or anyone with good ideas...Thanks
