I start Jan 20th. I go back and forth between super scared and super excited. And I just want to be done already! Lol. I've been working on my prereqs for a few years now and procrastinating really. I'm 25 with 3 children ages 5, 4, and 1. I'm a stay at home mom and my husband will be working 3rd shift so we won't have to use day care. I'm worried about not having enough family time and I'm worried about not having enough study time...

I am freaking out too! I try not to think about it and focus on my new beginning. I'm nervous about doing well, and being able to keep up academically. Most of all, I am thankful for the opportunity and plan on doing my best. I think fear and doubt will definitely get in the way, so we need to throw them out! We need to give ourselves credit for getting into the program. It's a big accomplishment! We can do it!

Thanks for the comfort, beginning15.

Sometimes I get too worried and nervous about the unknown and just overwhelms myself. :(

But thanks for the encouragement! :)

I hope it's not too late to respond to this thread.

I felt the when I received the phone call from my school congratulating me of my acceptance. I jumped up and down with joy, and in the same time anxious. I was very excited when when you received your stethoscope and uniform in the mail. I bought all the required textbooks and started reading them way before class even started.

Now I am a month into the program, the excitement is dying down a little. The amount of material going over in each lecture and the amount of reading and preparation is taking the energy out of me. But going to clinical at the hospital I am still excited about. Clinical again tomorrow, can't wait to get my patient.

Thanks Sunny, that is what I'm looking for, advice like that!

Just had my first clinical today. It was awesome. Glad my professor went over the nursing process very early into the semester. The first thing the clinical instructor asked today before we even saw our patient was, what are the potential busing diagnoses and interventions.

Read up on your NANDAs if you haven't done so.

It's awesome reading these threads!! I don't start until next spring. But as a young 18 year old, I'm terrified that giving it my all won't be enough. I'm always afraid that I'n not smart enough to do it. I've made all A's in pre-reqs so far, but I've heard that pre reqs are a joke compared to nursing school!!! It was great to see others are nervous as well :)
