Hi, I am about to finish my BSN at WGU in Dec. and am wanting to go straight on for my MSN. I was going to do it at WGU because it would have been a smooth transition but you have to do a research project at your place of employment for the Capstone. I am not currently employed and would like to finish my degrees while we can afford for me to be off work. I was wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to complete an MSN at Excelsior? I like the idea of Excelsior anyway because they offer an MSN in Informatics. I talked to them on chat but the link the guy sent me was a time completion calculator and it said it would take 0.0 years to complete, obviously that's wrong hahaha! Anyone done it in a year or less, or know if that's possible?
Miracle of miracles — I am registered for the capstone that begins next month. I truly believe that EC is committed to the success of its students, and faculty helped me get past my roadblock. Unfortunately this pushes my FNP back a couple of months (I am not even going to attempt to do Advanced Patho and Advanced Pharm with my Capstone!!!), but I have to take this opportunity to finish what I started. Yay!

Congrats!!! That is wonderful to hear!!
Hello all,
I received my associate degree nursing from Excelsior in 2009. I have since gone on to get BSN and MSN in Healthcare system management from other schools. Has anyone taken Advanced Pharmacology and Advanced Pathology/Physiology through Excelsior? I'm doing a post-grad NP program and need to get these out of the way. Unfortunately, they are not offered every semester at the school I'm attending now.
I am 16 days from completing the MSN Informatics capstone! Hooray!! It really was not that bad. The most difficult part is finding a preceptor/mentor and project location, as well as finding a project that is doable within the 15-week timeframe (really, the project should be completed in less time because it doesn't "officially" start until after Week 3, when students submit the capstone project proposal, and ends around Weeks 13/14, when you submit a capstone paper, presentation, abstract, and record yourself giving your presentation in Adobe Connect).
The home stretch is a little assignment-heavy, but I didn't have any problems getting everything done plus taking Patho at another school, and that class started during Week 9 of the capstone. And I worked in three ERs, one full-time and two PRN. (But I am down to one job right now because it was getting a little insane. I think I was getting a little insane! lol)
This is an older thread, but wondering if anyone could tell me how doable it is to take NUR 541 (15 weeks) along with NUR 513 (8 weeks). Community and Evidence-Based practice. Thanks!
Community has a clinical component required now; It's really only observation in a public health setting, but the requirement is something like 40 hours. Just keep that in mind if you're trying another 8 week at the same time.

No activity here for a bit. Anyone just start a new class for Spring II? How's it going?
