Hey everyone I ve Been accepted into EC. Can anyone tell me about any study guides that can help me pass these exams. Iam strongly considering Chancellors Study sytems
Thank you guys for your responses. With recieving my acceptance letter there is a worksheet of credit hours reviewed. I applied to the school of nursing, thinking that I would have all of my previous courses accepted and just do the N1-7.
On the worksheet It was written that i need psy lifespan but I've done that course before.
I also thought that EC would accept my speech and my Literature for humanities requirements but EC didnt. This is so discouraging now I thought I would only have to take the nursing courses.
Is there any advice on how to resolve this
Call and talk to a counselor to find out why. Can you take an exam for Psyc Lifespan?
Yes I can but why should I take the exam if i have already taken the course at a college about 5 years ago. Thanks for your prompt response. I will give EC a call today to find out.
Alicia,
Don't be discouraged- I was initially told I needed more general ed credits than I needed, too. After I talked to the nursing advisor, they reviewed my transcripts and figured out they had made some mistakes. They immediately fixed the problem. I think it happened in my case because I had a few different transcripts that came to them at different times. Maybe it's the same with you? Let us know what happens.

I don't think you should. I just meant if they wouldn't accept the course that you have taken there may be an Excelsior exam that you can take and pass (since you already have had the material). Good luck.
Hi! When I enrolled at excelsior they overlooked my lifespan and after reviewing my official transcripts again they realized the error and I was granted credit for this course. I do suggest like others have posted in calling an advisor to verify why the courses were not accepted. EC was very good about accepting my credits. I had A&P & lifespan that were from nearly 10 years ago that they accepted without a problem. All of my other general course work was accepted also, but it was from the past year at my local CC. I believe they may have overlooked it. Also the lifespan must meet certain criteria to be accepted, they told me it must cover birth thru death...so if your course was lacking in this area then this may also be a reason for the denial of credit. Best of luck!!!

I hate to barge in but I am trying to contact fellow nurses going thru or have graduated from excelsior and distance learning. I am seriously thinking about trying this but I am very skeptical. Will someone please let me know is it a good program, cost, time spent, chances of getting a GOOD job, ect Thank You so much.

Thank you for your encouragement.
I called EC and spoke with an advisor she said that the review was brief and that I should wait for my official transcipts to come in, and then they would do a more in-depth review of my transcripts. So I am hoping that it works out for me so that i dont have to take any additional courses.
Thanks again I will try to hang in there.
By the way is it true that I cannot take Nursing exams before satisfying the psychology requirement.
Can anyone tell me?

Hi- do a search on this board for Excelsior College, and you'll find tons of answers to your questions. I liked the program a lot...it cost my employer
Hi everyone, I am now studing for NC1. Its not too hard because I was previously in a nursing program. But I still think I need some kind of direction on what and how to study for these exams. Can any one help me?
I was told that EC has free study material. Can someone tell me how can I get them.
Alicia.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and you'll find the links to all of the NC exams. Then just print out the study guide (Adobe pdf format). Make sure you have plenty of paper/ink in your printer before you do it, though. They're usually about 25-40 pages in length.
