Use the Excelsior study guides that will come with the material you pay for. There are many publishing companies that will sell you anything you want but will only make your bank account smaller. Check out the many web sites that will tell you this, including this one.

Companies that advertise associations with Excelsior are usually private publishing companies that are selling study supplies. Many students feel what Excelsior suggests for free is perfectly adequate. These companies have helped some but are expensive. They have no inside information as to what will be on the tests.
Thank you for your advice.
Is there anyone currently enrolled that can give me some pointers

I used the FREE Excelsior study guides and recommended textbooks to get an A on Nursing Concepts 1 and Nursing Concepts 2. I am studying for 3 and 4 the same way and feel confident that I will do just as well. Excelsior provides plenty of resources to study. This is not to steer you away from a publishing company, as some have had good luck with them, but I prefer to go to the source.

I am going strictly with EC but my coworkers are going with rue. We are comparing notes and they match up perfectly. Only difference is they are paying 99 dollars a month locked it no matter if they complete it or not. The nice thing is if you have some coworkers or study buds one can go with one of the third party study systems and you can all split the cost. I will say though I am sticking with EC for financial reasons my friends rue system has given us alot of direction.

I thought RUE was a book publishing company that is contracted to provide study guides. They are associated with EC. What is that company really?

Rue is not associated with Excelsior College. Excelsior provides their own study guides which many students find adequate. Some students have said they like Rue but is is expensive and you have to sign a long contract. Rue doesn't have an inside track to what is covered on the exams. Good luck.

Look through the threads on here that list the Yahoo study groups. They all have free study material, practice tests, and notes in their files sections. I used these and the EC course outlines- all free, and made good grades. There are also practice quizzes for NC 1-3 on the EC website. These are very close to the actual exams. Don't waste your $ on publishing companies. You don't need RUE, Chancellor's, etc. to pass the EC exams. Good luck! Starting this program can be overwhelming at first, but once you take the first exam, you'll have an idea of how they work.

Yes they are are publishing company. No they are NOT Contracted with EC. EC DISCOURAGES using them. They are not in anyway associated nor endorsed by EC.
Isn't it interesting how misleading thier ads are? The price they charge is astronomical for their guides. You can get free guides from EC written by the same people who design and write the actual exam.
Rue, Moore (Istudy Smart), and Chancellor are not endorsed recognized or authorized in anyway by EC to do what they do. It is a free enterprise system and any publisher can publish and sell in anyway they choose thier own books. That is what they do.
They are misleading but if you pay attention they "usually" do tell you who and what they are and what they can and cannot do. But the general sales pitch is so powerful most people miss the caviats.
