So, I am in the program and have 5 years to finish. If I cant do it in 5 years then geeze... I dunno.

Anyone else in this program? What do yall think about it?

Am at the tail end. Only have the CPNE to go. I believe that Excelsior is a godsend to many nurses who otherwise could not go to a traditional RN program. It is unfortunate that several states are placing restrictions on it or disallowing it altogether.

I graduate from Excelsior with my AD in a couple weeks. I found the program to be reasonable and accommodating, which I completed in about 3 years (had to do all of my lib arts too). If you have the time and motivation, I believe it's possible to complete the whole thing within a couple years (doing it part time). I initially struggled with my procrastination, compounded by the liberal scheduling (no teacher to give/hold you to deadlines) and my fear of being adequately prepared for the exams (but I never failed an exam and my final GPA was 3.52). As I got into a routine and used resources that EC offered, as well as those shared here, I settled in and got through it.

Specializes in EMS, ER, GI, PCU/Telemetry.

i am going to be starting the program as soon as i get my official review back, i sent in my transcripts a few weeks back and now i am just waiting for that so i can get started!

i am really hoping to finish within a year and a half or so, hoping i can stay motivated and on track with a new baby coming in november. i am excited to start because there are no other LPN-RN programs within 90 miles of where i live.

we have alot of great resources here on AN to help us too who are graduates of EC and are working RN's now. :)

I got my initials from them. I loved it. I hated nursing school.

Took me two years.

what states are they? I know California is one of them. (which I thought was the only one)...what other states dont allow excelsior grads?

Graduated last September.

Not working. Recession has hit this area hard and there are no jobs anywhere. When I graduated I was working as the informatics nurse in a small local critical access hospital. I was laid off in June.

As a Brooklyn gal Excelsior is perfect for you. I'm originally from Staen Island and now live wya upstate NY - north of Albany, near Canada. :)

Wander over to the Distance Learning forum. There's a lot of EC information in there. And feel free to write me if you want.

I just enrolled this month and i am not quit sure what books to get etc. Is there a list of require books to help you along?

What is the best study technique/guide. Did you attend any of the workshops? I kind of feel a little lost. I think I will call the advisor next week because I want to finish in 7 months. ( at least I plan on it) How long did it take to get a clinical site? How was the FCC if you have taken it?

Hi miniaday,

The cheapest route to go is ISU LPN-BSN online program. If time is your delema, then I would just go to Excelsior. The others are advertising companies that sell you a curicullum to study and pass Excelsior's exams. Cut out the middle man and just go straight to Excelsior.

I am waiting out a year at ISU because I found that I could possible finish the classes at Excelsior in 7 months if I was to take a class a month. However, I am going back to ISU to bridge to BSN when I am done at Excelsior. I am currently ranked as a 1st semester senior at ISU from previous studies.

Write back if more info is needed.
