Has anyone taking A&P 1 with Lab through straighterline.com to complete their requirements for the ADN program? I am just worried if I try and go to a traditional BSN when I finish that I will have to repeat since I do not have a lab w/Excelsior. I was just wondering how the workload was and how long it takes to complete a course. I was planning on taking the Excelsior exam in a few months. Any advice would be appreciated guys :-)

Keep in mind that the A&P courses offered by Straighterline are very, very new. In fact, Straighterline barely started offering A&P courses less than 72 hours ago, so I seriously doubt that anyone has completed this course offering through them yet. And if no one has completed Straighterline's A&P yet, there would be no one to tell you how the workload is and so forth. :)
However, if you ask this question in a month or two, you will probably get some feedback from people who have completed Straighterline's A&P. However, since the Straighterline A&P class has not been in existence for more than a couple of days, it is virtually impossible for anyone to have completed it in such a short amount of time and provide feedback on their experiences this early in the game.
I had no idea they were so new! I just heard of it recently from someone at work who is doing Excelsior too, but she's taking like English comp w/them. I wanted to check into it since I still have a few gen ed's to sweep up and one of the BSN programs I want to look into when I finish at Excelsior requires Lab with A&P. Maybe I will call tomorrow and find out the details.... I want to know if the quizzes and tests are at your own pace or on a schedule, that will make all the difference for me :-)
Thanks anyway, sorry I asked a dumb question

The courses were ACE recommended last week and went live on our site yesterday 3/22/10. I agree once we have students who have completed the courses you should be able to get some additional information.

I called my nursing advisor at Excelsior and she's looking into it. I still need A&P II and Straighterline looks very appealing to me also. Will post when I find out.
Ok, I just read an email back from my nursing advisor and she said she spoke to the dean and it is OK to do the A&P with Lab. Woo hoo!
Kel, so Excelsior will approve A&P with Lab on Straighterline? I am really thinking about doing this since Commuter said it is all self paced and open book. I am thinking of signing up after I finish my theory exams next month. I might be able to finish it faster... just is a little more expensive... $99 + $39 for the course, textbook maybe I can find used, and the lab kit $249.
That's what her message back to me says. I called and asked Monday about it and she said she needed to research it first. You can always check with your nursing advisor just for piece of mind. Now I did ask her if I could take the med terminology and apply it to the degree and she said no about that one.
I'm seriously considering taking it also.

So confusing, my advisor told me they DON'T accept it yet. I spoke to her today. Ugh...I need an answer, so I just emailed excelsior for clarification. I would rather take the straighterline exams than that giant excelsior exam! I just passed my cpne and this is the last thing i have to do.
Hmmm, yeah she emailed me back and said she spoke to the dean and said A&P II was ok to take.
