Exam next week but scared to take it??

Nursing Students NCLEX

plz advise . my exam next week but i am too much scared right now. anxious.

one more thing is i don't have too much option to reschedule due to att.

what to do??

medspub? hmm i didn't know that they have a book.. thanks for the info!

:D yes i am filipino and you're welcome. i've taken both nclex pn (2008) & rn (2010) and i used the same technique and both i got the minimum questions and passed 1st time. what's really important to me is to feel confident because if you are not confident during the exam, you tend to keep switching answers back and forth and dwell on it for a long time and ended up picking the wrong answer.

so this is what i did to feel confident. i knew i just graduated nursing school so the info is still fresh but i wanted to review the content a bit so i read this nclex review book from medspub and just read/skimmed through the whole thing. this book was all content review in bullets so it took me 3-4 days skimming through it and not taking any notes but i was doing nclex style questions at the same time. so after i finished the content book which made feel confident, i just did all questions from various sources (nclex 3500, saunders, lacharity, etc.) but i was not counting how many i did because i was focusing on reading and understanding all the rationales for all questions.

then sometimes this doubt will creep into my mind and make me feel discouraged so what i would do is do a couple of 10 questions quizzes from the cd program and if i get above 50%, i get my confidence back. you should read the explanations on how the nclex cat exam really works because it made me feel confident that all i needed to get was 50% above and i should pass if a lot of my correct answers are higher quality questions which means more points.

make sure to review the general lab values (common lab values) and the infection control mnemonics you can find here somewhere if you use the search option. doing this added to my confidence.

don't study the day before the exam. i was just relaxing the day before-i ate out and saw a movie. when i woke up on the dday, i ate a light nutritious breakfast and headed to pearson. i was a little nervous but very confident. i prayed in the car and before starting the exam in front of the computer.

then whenever i get a very difficult question i would just tell myself that this must be one of the pretest not-scored questions and eliminate two options and pick the best answer and hope for the best and move on.

that's what i did for both nclex and i was telling myself that the nclex is supposed to be about the basic stuff we learned in nursing school so we should be able to pass this exam.

good luck sirod :D with your retake and please don't lose hope!

yeah it was an nclex-pn content review book given to me by my school during my lpn program. i used it as well for my nclex-rn because the content was the same.

good luck to all future test takers!!

Angel, RN : Thank you very much for that very informative insights. I really appreciate your help. I felt frustrated and sad when I didn't make it on my first try thinking that I never fail before to any licensing exam back home. I am a Social Worker in the Philippines and worked in a government office for awhile before coming here in the US and studied back there for my BSN degree. I do love working with people and much more seeing myself working in a medical field. Anyways, I am now more determine to really pass this exam and hopefully will make it possible on my second try. Thank you..
