Evidence based practice help

Hello everyone. I am new to this site, but I see very useful posts to it all the time so I thought I would try it. Well my question is... What would be a good evidence based practice research topic be? Some of our examples were, hand sanitizer vs washing with soap and water, or flushing central catheters with heparin vs saline... I have been searching for a while now and seeing what articles are out there but I really am drawing a blank. Any suggestions? Thank you!

The best topic for YOU would be one that you are actually interested in. What specialties or aspects of nursing interest you most? What type of nursing do you plan to do after you graduate?

Browse some of the journals that focus on the type of nursing you want to do. See what topics are "hot" in that field and have several articles that you could use. By using that method of choosing a topic, you will be assured of finding a topic for which there is lots of good information available for you to use -- and also is about something of interest to you.

Good luck!

just for fun, see if you can get a slim little volume called "nursing and ritualistic practice," by walker http://tinyurl.com/7xoq8c7. that will give you some ideas. i ran into it in the stacks (remember stacks? like, books in a library?) one day as an idle nursing student, and it transformed my life into an evidence-based practice freak. it's often quoted in nursing research text. just because it was published in 1967 does not invalidate it; there is a sequel, and it continues to be influential in nursing research because of its clarity.
