Hi Cnoto-

The skills kit is a bag that contains such items as: foley kit, primary and secondary iv lines, iv start kits, etc. You absolutely must have this because you use it in the skills lab at school for training purposes.

You do NOT need to buy tape. The tape you use at clinical - you will get from the hospital.

You do need med scissors, a pen light, and a black sharpie (especially in 2nd and on with IV stuff). Most of us have a multi-color pen for clinical. When you prep you have to write down a lot of info in a very short amount of time. You also need regular black pens.

I bought a small waist thing that holds stuff like my money, DL, etc. You will see, your pockets are stuffed at clinical.

I hope this helps. :)

@medlove... Can you give me a heads up what to expect first month of school ... Like reading material and what they test on fest few weeks? Hope u don't mind me asking so many questions lol

@medlove... Oops forgot a question lol ... Do you have to wear uniforms on non-clinical hospital days?

I can't remember exactly, but there is A TON, and I mean A TON of reading. The 1st test I remember as being easier, but after the first test, the difficulty level goes way up. It's meant to get you prepared for the ultimate test (NCLEX).

You do not need to wear your uniform on non-hospital days.

I don't think you guys will go to the hospital for the first 3 weeks of school. They want to get you ready, so you learn in the skills lab first.

I think they will send out the reading early. At least they did for us. (Sorry, I just remembered you aren't starting until Spring, so you may not have gotten it yet). You will get it before you start though.
