Did anyone get accepted and staring spring 2013?

Yeaaaaaaaaaaa... Today is orientation ! So excited

Cnoto- How did Orientation go? How are you feeling?

We got our schedules for 3rd- and already have assignments to do for the first week of school! Uggh!

Omg I wanted to puke lol I don't start until spring so I'm super anxious!!! Orientation was good, a few of the 4 semester students came to talk and we had a tour!!!! They gave us one book for free due to a grant and I got my patches..I'm gonna try and get the books online for cheaper versus the book store. They gave us the first semester reading material so I will start reading on that and they have a tentative sch and times of classes. I wish they started around 9:00 ; it would make getting kids dropped off at school easier since I live over by SJCC. I can't wait !!!! You are in your 3 or 4th semester?

I won't know until sept I believe!! Ill let you know when I do? Any FYI for 1st semester instructors?

I LOVED my first semester instructor. Really- it's all about personality. Some people had instructors and REALLY struggled because of how they acted....others had the same instructor and did just fine and went "Under the radar."

They look for weakness and cracks in people. Those people HAVE A REALLY hard time. They want confidence, "fake it till you make it" kind of attitude. Those with the confidence in themselves did much better and had an "easier" time. Answer questions without being asked and you will stand out in a positive way to them.

Thanks for heads up!!! I'm glad that I am coming into this as an adult with some exp in life. I look forward to the challenge.

I use a macbook pro running Microsoft word. Word has the ability to record lectures as you type. I found that I NEVER went back and listened to them, so I stopped doing that.

Everyone is different and has different study habits. For me, listening during lecture and typing everything out in word works best. I know others who record every lecture, depends on what works for you.

I think part of why I didn't go back and listen to them was because I didn't have a second of free time. Enjoy 1st while having only 1 patient. Prepping takes quite a bit of time and in second you have 2 patients and so on. VERY time consuming! You really have to use every second wisely.

@medlove... What stethoscope did you buy school? They said nothing expensive but I want it to work lol

They do say that, but the truth is, people who bought the cheap ones, went out and bought the more expensive one after. I have the littmann II and it cost me about $90. It was worth EVERY penny. In 2nd you have OB and you have to have the baby's HR and RR perfect. I couldn't hear very well using the cheap ones in skills lab. My advice- get a decent one and have it engraved (so no one steals it).
