  1. You have to do research before you say these things. I went to UCLA- and now I'm in a MSN, FNP at a State university in California. So you are not correct. It's not a "money maker" its a public university. Psychology is a "science" major and there are many research classes. The only classes I had to take were community health. I will not gain a "BSN" but I will end with an MSN. UCSF also has a similar program for those with bachelors in other areas. Do research before making such a bold statement that what I am saying is not so.
  2. In my case it did!!! I've been a nurse for 3 years in CA. I have a BS in Psychology from a top University and my hospital (a large CA hospital) liked it. I am currently enrolled in a MSN, FNP program at a university. I had to take a couple classes to "bridge" but was not required to take the entire BSN upper division line up. So, to say it's "worthless", I strongly disagree. Only my 2 cents 😊 oh- and I was not enrolled in MSN when I got hired. I just started the program this year. Hope that helps.
  3. Chels11- DO NOT MOVE TO THE EAST SIDE!!! Look in either south or west san jose. Many clinicals are at VMC so stay west if you look over there. Rents are sky high right now, but please beware of "cheap" places because they will surely be in dangerous areas. Evergreen is on the very edge of the east side, if you move to south san jose you are still close to school. Just my 2 cents.
  4. Yeah- it's weird for me to not be starting a new semester! It's sad to say- but I miss nursing school and being with all my close friends each day.
  5. School starts Tuesday right?!?! How exciting! How is everyone feeling??
  6. I would buy the app for your phone. I have the "nursing central" app and it's $99/year but worth every penny- it's a drug guide, taber's dictionary and much more. I used and still use it all the time. Don't waste money on the taber's hard copy and you definitely do need the Davis drug guide if you don't buy the app. You can't do preps without it. Don't stress too much. Take it a step at a time. It will make more sense when school starts.
  7. I focused 200% on the powerpoints and 25% on the reading. Exactly what you said- you read the PowerPoint and then you read that part in the book for clarity and better understanding. It is impossible for most people to do 100% of the reading- so make what you can read count. If the instructor stresses something in lecture KNOW it. Good luck to you- :) do you start in sept?
  8. From what I have read on here it really varies. I am in California and I took the boards on 7/24 and my license number was on Breeze on the 7/26 (so 48 hours later). Others in my program who are passing are also seeing license numbers on Breeze in 48 hours. I really think it depends on your school and when they sent the paperwork to the BRN.
  9. It would be yes you took nclex before, no not for the same license, yes for a different license. I would answer all questions honestly.
  10. Yes- you took it before so that's correct. Then it says for the same license and then for a different license I believe. They are asking if you have taken NCLEX PN before. At least I think that's correct.
  11. I got the same thing and I passed on 7/24. My name and license showed up on Breeze in 48 hours (7/26). Pretty amazing feeling!!! Congrats to you all RNs!!!!!
  12. Thank you 30pls and cnoto!!!! You will be there soon!!! All the hard work has finally paid off! EVC really prepares you well. That should give you comfort knowing you are in a great program.
  13. I took NCLEX - RN on 7/24/14 in CA. I finished in 75 questions. I did the PVT a couple hours later and got the good pop-up. My name and license were on Breeze on 7/26/14 (to my surprise). A friend of mine took it in June, passed with 75 questions and her name and license showed on Breeze 9 days later. She got her paper license 14 days later.
  14. I passed in 75 questions. I saw my license number yesterday!! So excited to say I am an RN!
