I attend the LPN program at Everest College in Michigan. The director of the nursing program in Michigan said that it is an ADN program. She is actually going to find out if they will offer a 1+1 bridge program, and she will find out the cost. I'll post the info when I get it. I paid 26k for the LPN program, that included books, and uniforms. Everest is very expensive, however they don't have a waiting list. They go by a point system. High school GPA, previous college GPA, Previous degree, Previous CNA experience, Compass and PSB test scores. For the adn it will more than likely be the NET or HESI. I also spoke to Everest in FL and was told that the tuition is about 27k for the ADN, no 1+1 only 6 credits transfer:o. I'm devastated.

Wow, I thought I'd never get a response....I have talked to one of the admissions counselors and they are still tight-lipped about things. I am going to call again tomorrow though. I'm sure your LPN will take some time off of the program for you. You will have to do the general pre-req's but still, even if you got to your RN in 1 year or 1 and 1/2 years, still good? I'm assuming they require the NET to get in but I don't know for sure. I'm nervous about math. I still haven't decided to do my RN or LPN right now. Apparently Everest won't be starting a class until early 2008 so I still have time to decide. Good luck and let me know when you find something out.

go straight for the RN! its so much more worth it and you practically learn the same stuff.. Ive been really curious about their program too cause its much cheaper then West coast university. Good luck! and im sure no matter what you do, you will do fine! Its just a matter of staying focused and studying and not giving yourself doubts :nuke:

I visited the campus yesterday and spoke with an Admissons adviser. The cost for the January 2010 start up is about 47K. They will let you transfer all of your non-nursing pre reqs and deduct $ 401.00 for each credit hour transfered. They require the Compass and HESI for admission in addition to your high school/college transcipts, an essay ( Why do you want to be a nurse) and an interview with the Nursing faculty. You also need to have all of your immunizations, a background check, CPR certification and a physical exam. There are only 30 spots in the next class and according to the advisor they had over 100 applicants for the last class they started.

I was thinking about heading down to their campus this week and checking it out. I've decided I'm either going to do Everest or Apollo but I'm not sure which one has the shorter waiting list? I also already have all my pre-reqs done so I'll see how much of a difference that makes.

I considered the private route for a long time. But here's the thing, getting my LPN will cost about $8K and although I will most likely work in LTC, I can make upwards of $25/hr. There are alot of new grads having a hard time finding jobs right out of school and so almost $50K with no guarantee....not a wise decision for me. Also, I hear more and more that employers are preferring BSN's... well for $10K more you can go to Chamberlain and get your BSN.....

Of course this is just my 2 cents. Everyone situation is different. For me, getting to work as soon as possible is what is best for me. I can go LPN-BSN after Im employed....
