Everest College Ontario RN program

Published

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

:o!!! On my way to Ontario for my financial aide appointment. SO NERVOUS AND EXCITED!!!! Hope it all goes well!

Good luck:) hope all goes smoothly for you, I'm sure it will! Let us all know how it went

I think I'm gonna give r--- a call...
I just sent a quick, pleasant email to her in hopes of finding out where I am in the process, too, Jewels.

Yea, she sounded stressed and busy over the phone...but she wouldn't give me details, just said (again) that final deliberations will be made. This week and everyone should know by the end of this week. She told me they are calling based on highest scores and interview...so yea. I guess my scores weren't as high in standing as I thought...

Ahh that's good info, Jewels, thank you :)

I thought they had a monthly payment plan as an option? If you do that do you have to make a payment on the spot? or do you have some time before having to make a payment?

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, but we were required to give them a down payment. You might not have to depending on what your monthly payment is. I think if it exceeds a certain amount, they'll require the down. They gave us an opportunity to come in the next day to give them the check, but I didn't want to waste a second. So impatient! Your first actual payment will have to be made in January, and if I remember right, no particular day, just sometime during the month.

I saw someone go in today at 3p (ish)...anybody here? I had my son with me. One day I'll get to put some faces to these screen names :)

no i wasnt required to leave any such down payment. but it may depend how much ur cash balance is. mine wasnt extremely high. although i did overhear in the f.a. cubicle next to where mine was someone for r.n. program that had to leave a down payment, but their monthly was quite a bit higher too. my payments dont start til feb. as i was told the first must be made within a month of school start and every month thereafter. ahhh the consequences of bad credit!

the monthly payments are gonna be tough especially while not working in school but hopefully uncle sam will give some of us some nice lookin tax returns to help out lol.

for those whove gone thru f.a. and admissions and received their schedule and everest e-mail addresses, do you know if the orientation date will be mailed to our e-mails on file or our new everest e-mail accounts?

Got my class schedule today and was told orientation is at 9a-3p on Friday, the 14th--the email will probably go to our personal emails (I mentioned she could use my Everest email, but I just let it go when she said we don't have access to those yet ). Two students in scrubs came in to check their mailboxes and when she told me we'd be getting one of those, I grinned ear to ear. How wonderfully lame of me... :clown:

Anyway...I guess I'll see you soon!!

oh wow thats next friday! ya i was excited about the mailboxes too. ya looks like we will all be meeting up face to face. itll be nice to start the program already knowing a few people :)

Ok yall. So I was approved for 9000 federal loan but i had a left over balance of 4000 dollars which I could not get a private loan for. Cash payments was my only option but I'm not 100 percent sure I'll be able to keep up with the payments once the nursing courses start. 455 dollars a month is a lot! I'm pretty much doing this on my own without parental help or anything. I'd have too many expenses being that I am not from the area and will have to move over there and pay rent and all that wonderful stuff. I have till tomorrow to make up my mind, I pretty much have a spot, but I might turn it down :(

Congrats to all of you who have gotten through FA & Admissions! :w00t:

I was there at that time. I was actually finishing up my f.a. appointment. Perhaps you saw me, I was wearing a blue plaid long sleeve shirt, black vans, and jeans.

Aw man...I don't remember. Did you have somebody with you? I just finished speaking with R, I walked out and there were two people waiting outside her door, one seemed to be accompanying the other. I probably would've been hard to miss since I had my son with me.

I really hope you decide to join the program, but I understand exactly what you're saying. If I didn't get any help (hate that I had to), I would've been on my way to taking the lengthy junior college route...or who knows what. :(

For what it's worth, though...congrats! :)
