Everest College Ontario RN program

Published

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Oh yeah, and knowing they're 5 out of 40 is very reassuring! I've been wondering just how quick this part of the process has been moving along...

i know!! i was thinking more seats were taken, but that really does relieve me a little bit, just a little though!!! haha, i just pray the new year brings me a f.a app. so i can join you all at orientation:) happy new year friends!!! and for those who are enrolled like jmira and kimoleka...id be celebrating big time if i were you!!! CONGRATS again, cant say it enough

krystel i qualified for full f.a. and federal loans. and yes it is in 3 packages thus getting you three years worth of fafsa. i still had an out of pocket cash sum that is not covered but if you have good credit you can get a personal loan on it. its all gonna depend how many units ur gonna be taking, depending if u have units to transfer over. Hers how it goes without transferred units. $416 per unit + 1462 for books + 120 random fee. theres 48 units in the first 3 quarters =19968+120+1462=21550 for the first and heftiest package. max f.a. is a lil over 6k and stafford loans cover another 9500 or so so theres a few grand left over ur either gonna need a private loan for or they offer a 12 month cash payment plan to the school with zero interest. hope this helps!!!!

Thanks for responding to my post! Ok so it looks like my out of pocket is going to be like 4 or 5 thousand for this program, at least for that first yrar... Man God forbid you have to retake a class! I never have so far but the presure would really be on me at this school because I really don't have room financial to retake any classes. So just to get this clear they give you 3 years worth the FASFA but do they also give you 3 years of the federal student loans?

... As of Wednesday they had only enrolled 5 out of the 40 so there is still plenty of room...

Thank you for this small and oh-so-important detail, DexandMon! I don't have an FA appt altho I interviewed in Nov. Now I can keep my hopes up to get into the Jan class.

Happy New Year, everyone :jester:

I went over there today and yeah, they told me they'd be behind on scheduling because of the holidays. The current students are on break from the 9th to the 16th. The bookstore also opens at this time, so I would think our schedules would be in place by then.

jmira, I'm curious about what the hours look like for classes. Would you mind sharing that bit o' info? :)

well te first quarter is only 4 classes, and one of which i have transferred. so for the other 3 nutrition is an online course, strategies for success u have a choice of online or in class, and a&p you have a 4 hour lecture and 4 hour lab each week and you have a couple time choices for them so its really gonna vary depending on personal preference. as of right now theres no orientation date and i chose my classes the same day as my admissions stuff but with all the holidays im sure things may differ from person to person

well they only do one academic year at a time and they call it a "package". the future fafsas and federal loans u wont know until that point when you "repack"

That actually really helps jmira, so thank you :) I'm transferring English Composition, and with two online classes, it looks like this first quarter may be a tad easier than expected. This will totally help since, aside from other online courses, I haven't been to school since 2002. An easy transition is key for a person like me. I didn't get to choose my classes after the admissions stuff, so I get to wait for that phone call now. Weee!

Again, thanks for the info!

Have a Happy 1.1.11 everyone! :D

Good morning, all :) Here's hoping the rest of us get our 'phone call' from FA and/or Admissions tomorrow:redbeathe
