Hello all,
I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.
Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?
I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.
And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??
Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Thank you all and yes, jmira...let's meet at orientation! It'll totally help calm my nerves!
Jewels, you are most welcome. You WILL be using the info! They definitely have seemed to be doing things in no particular order.
I'm hoping (in fact I can feel it) there's a nice big group of us that can meet at orientation, so I'm definitely pulling for you guys! No one will know each other there except us! Unless there's some other bizarro message board we don't know about
I can see the study groups at my house now!

Hey, they were in meetings all day on Wednesday and are not open today or Monday just to put some minds at ease.
My friend who I stated earlier who had his FA meeting a week ago already got class schedule and everything so a pretty quick turn around once the FA is done. Mine is actually taking a little longer because my fafsa was chosen for a verification process. But good luck to all thanks.
Ps: as to an earlier posting of me being counted on as being a girl lol me and my friend are both male.
I think it was long who posted it but it's cool.
Ok so it has been awhile since I have checked this post and let me tell you I have to say I am a little concerned with all this fa stuff. I am curious if anyone can help me to better understand if I will need to pay an out of pocket cost. I am going to give you guys some background and hopefully someone will know lol. I know I will get the max on the fasfa and the federal loans, now with this program are they giving you 3 academic years ( 3 sets of 9 months) that way you can get another year worth of fasfa and federal loans? Because if that is the case I think I won't have an out of pocket, and that will be the difference between night and day. If that is not the case and it is only 2 academic years worth of aid and you have no preqs what is the out of pocket looking like? Lol no to be super nosey but I would really like to hear real numbers. I honestly think they should sit you down with fa first save alot of people the heart break of getting that far to have to quit due to inability to pay...
krystel i qualified for full f.a. and federal loans. and yes it is in 3 packages thus getting you three years worth of fafsa. i still had an out of pocket cash sum that is not covered but if you have good credit you can get a personal loan on it. its all gonna depend how many units ur gonna be taking, depending if u have units to transfer over. Hers how it goes without transferred units. $416 per unit + 1462 for books + 120 random fee. theres 48 units in the first 3 quarters =19968+120+1462=21550 for the first and heftiest package. max f.a. is a lil over 6k and stafford loans cover another 9500 or so so theres a few grand left over ur either gonna need a private loan for or they offer a 12 month cash payment plan to the school with zero interest. hope this helps!!!!

woot!!! if the first year is the heftiest, thats where most of my transferred units are for! the first two semesters I only have four or three classes tops!
mizzhernandez, i am sorry to hear of your decision. it would be tough to go through the program in a situation such as yours, but remember its only 2 years and the payoff is something you would never regret. best of luck to you in all your future endeavors
JMIRA..thank you for your commet. You are totally correct, its only 2 yrs but unfortunately I have to work around my husband's and kids' schedules leaving me VERY limited. I know I can definetly attend the regular classes, but the Clinicals are the impossibles for me due to the distance and lack of childcare assistance. I really want this.. but I think maybe its just not the time for me yet. ( i dont even know if im going to be called for F.A) :)....So im stressing trying to find a school for LVN first that will be in the mornings or weekends. Its tough!!! my husband works in the afternoons, goes to Everest in the mornings, and my daughter is in preschool, im at home with my two boys (3 &1). you can imagine the limitations I have. But im trying, trying my best to do something with my life and get into the healthcare field one step at a time.
