Estrella Mountain Community College Nursing Program

Published

I am interested in applying for the nursing program at this college. Could really use the advice of any current or former alumni from this particular program especially if they have of are doing the CEP. What I am interesting in knowing is: waiting list? How was the HESI A2? How do they let you know you got accepted into the program? Thanks!

Thank you AZBlueBell and Rachelofcourse for your responses. When you take the Hesi Exit exam, do you have to pass and does it count towards your final grade? Also what happens if you fail, do you do remediation or you fail the course? Also is Hesi exit exam for every lecture class class or just one Hesi exit exam for each block?

For EMCC it was worth 5% of the final grade, and it is part of your proctored points. You have to get a 76% or better on proctored points to pass each block. It's just one Hesi exam at the end of each block. I honestly found it easier than the regular exams our teacher gave us, but that's just me.

Hello AZBlueBell,

I have a question about EMCC. I read that the instructors were horrible  but this was my number one choice because it was closest to my house. I got accepted and will be starting in the Fall. What are your suggestions or thoughts on the EMCC CEP nursing program?

Thank you so much!

Hello AZBlueBell,

The block 1 & 2 instructors have changed recently. The block 1 instructor right now taught us block 2 last semester and I think she was great. I wish we had her for block 1, I feel our foundation would've been stronger! She's very knowledgeable and will push you to really understand the concepts. So I think students coming in now will have a great experience having her as block 1. The block 2 instructor now used to be the director, I have no experience with her because she just started teaching this semester. Block 3 and 4 instructors I also love, they are so good.

I had heard the same thing about EMCC when I was applying for schools but I'm completely happy with my decision. It's been so much easier on my family where I don't have to account for tons of travel while also dropping off/picking up my kiddos. The school is smaller, the cohort is smaller, overall it's been pretty good. There's been a few things that are frustrating (detailed in a different thread) but nothing is perfect. If you have any other specific questions you can PM me. Congrats on starting in Fall, it will be here before you know it :)

Hi AZBlueBell -

What has been your experience with the online format (CoursePoint and Evolve) that is used at EMCC? Have the tutors changed again for the incoming Spring 2018 cohort?
