ER the T.V. Show

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello,

I know most healthcare people are not very fond of E.R., but I ws just wondering if anybody watched the last episode. The lady from "Sex and the Cityy" was a guest star. She played a stroke victim.

I really thought that it showed the difference between the nurse and the doctor during that episode. Even though the doctor spoke to the patient, it was the nurse who seemed to be able to "read" the stroke victim's mind, even though the pateint couldn't say a word.

Would anyone agree with that assesment? (Or do most of you think it was way off base?)

Heh, I was curiosu if any of the ER crowd started watching "House."

I haven't been able to catch an episode but I heard it was good.

I've watched "House" a few times. I like mysteries, so it is interesting sometimes. It is not on my top ten list though.

House is a dope-head jerk though. He is often rude and dismissive...

I'm at work right now (7p-7a) and can't wait to get home and watch tonight's episode! Did anyone watch it yet???

I heart Neela and Gallant, which is weird because I didn't like him that much when he was on the show before - the recent "Here and There" episode SOLD me though!

It was so-so, there hasn't been very many actual patients lately. Don't read on if you taped it. Tonight they treated one boy who accidentally shot himself while carrying a gun to protect himself at school and a man who Neela diagnosed as crazy with a muscle spasm, died with a AAA. Then they did all of the soap opera stuff with Gallant and Neela who had sex. Gallant was acting uncomfortable in the civilian world. Sam's ex tried to abduct her son and Kovac caught him in the act, Frank had an old friend run a background check on the ex, he robbed a store in Co. and injured the clerk in the robbery. I was dissapointed.

I totally Love ER. Only because My best friend is from the UK and we watch it together and it kinda keeps her connected to home in a weird way. Anyways now that I am all edgumacted and stuff I just watch it for the heck of it and count how many times they wheel the big IV pole past the camera/who dies b/c it seems like every episode at least 1 person dies but i like it just the same. For me the world stops at 10 pm thursday nights. even if it is a feeble excuse not to study.

Thanks for the update - I'm a total spoiler hound so I knew some of the stuff already but not all. I don't know about that Neela - she just screws up too much. She's smart but I don't think she's a very good doctor. :o

did you notice that the RN sam was assessing the 12 yr old boy who was shot and was about to go in for surgery when she noticed that the x-ray showed a chip of of the bullet and she thought she knew where it went based on her assessment? I thought it was very interesting. They showed her standing up to one of the residents and calling for an X-ray and postponing the surgery. Doctors and mom were all very appreciative. It was a nice nurses moment for once on ER.

Yes, I noticed that. I like that they've made Sam a strong, competent nurse. I thought I read somewhere that Goran Visjnic (what a cool name!!!) is leaving the show. I wonder if Sam is going, too. They seem to be writing Carter's exit in now, too. I'll miss his presence on the show.

I've been watching the show since it came on TV, when Chicago Hope was up against it on Thursday nites @ 10. It was THE THING to watch at my house. My mom and I used to watch it together. She's an RN (FordGrad78), too.

We used to giggle and pick the show apart in the early days because of the inaccuracies and mistakes that they'd make for dramatic license.

I haven't watched the show, save for a few episodes here and there, in about two years. It has completely JUMPED THE SHARK. I can't take it anymore.

Whenever there's a final ep, or when Carter leaves, I'll tune in again.

I've thought about buying the DVDs....but I've watched the old eps so many times on TNT reruns that I probably know them all by heart.

I used to love it when Dr. Carter was a surgical med student....Dr. Ross and Dr. Benton. also Nurse Hathaway. Lots of good stuff back then. Do you remember the episode where omar epps (med student) killed himself.....The patient goes into the ER and they page omar and the patients pager goes off and they realize its him.....Awesome episode....Dr. Benton was so tough on his med students. Now its to much like a soap opera set in the ER. Everyone doing everyone, dr's have breakdowns, killing patients, going overseas, and lada dada da..........Back then the story line was much different.....I guess thats why it was a top 5 show back then.......

Getting rid of dr. green was the end.....Ive probably seen 3 episodes since his departure, but almost all of them with him in it.

oh my gosh, I can't believe someone else is talking about this episode!!

I watched E.R. for around the first three seasons (still watch the repeats on TNT every once in awhile)..whenever someone is talking about ER around me, I immediately ask, "Do you remember the episode where Omar Epps committed suicide?" For me, it's the most memorable moment. The shock and sadness.

Sorry, I tried watching one of the new episodes last season. It was completely unrecognizable to me. {Although Bob Newhart did an OUTSTANDING job!}

Gompers,

I dunno, I feel like Neela is getting better.

I was so mad when Benton made that boy so miserable that he jumped in front of the EL train. So many good ER stories so little time.

I definitely picked that up too - I liked how the docs gave her full credit, too, and didn't try and act like they knew it all along. Even the mother seemed to know that Sam was the reason her son would be okay. LOVED IT.
