What's the typical pay like in the ER or Trauma Unit for a person who just started in the ER compared to a more experienced ER nurse???

Please do not bite my head off. I believe nurses should make far more than the 17-20 per hour that I am seeing on this board. I know people who answer phones at a call center who earn 15. Now that is something I would not choose to do, but they are not involved in life or death situations. Also the work is very boring. Given that gasoline and heating oil has doubled, nurse salaries should at least increase a certain percentage. I realize it is not all about the money. Nevertheless, you have to buy gas to get to work. You also have to feed your children.

Hi to all, I am just wondering how come ER is considered a specilization already and I could see from here that the salary is too low. I just passed the NClex and is just starting on my new job as RN, no experience and will be working in a 130 bed skilled nursing facility here in northern CA bu my starting is $32.00, and if you will be working in hospitals, it is around $36-39/hr, so ER's woul ddefinitely be more than that.
