ER- HELP: Dumbest reason people go to ER

I am writing a "paper" on the dumbest reasons/stories that people show up/come to ER. Would appreciate ANY input ANY of the ER staff out there has for me.........................IF you'd like a copy of the FINAL draft, please let me know and I'll forward it.

PS. My winning entry so far is a Mom who brought 1 month old infant in at 2:30 AM because "it wouldn't look her in the eye. It doesn't recognize me!"

There was a misunderstanding as to who posted the "miss day b" thing. Please nobody flame peridotgirl for something unintentional. Logomom was OP of "miss day b", and it took several posts before someone finally figured it out. Let us just all along, ok?? :) Thanks.

Thank you Elvish, for defending me. I appreciate it. No, I didn't intentionally attempt to hurt anyone's feelings. I just didn't understand the whole "Miss Day B thing." actually, I still don't understand it. Can you explain it do me please? :confused:

Miss day B = Missed AB.

That's when a woman has a miscarriage but her body does not expel any or all of the fetal parts/placenta.

It took us all a bit to figure that one out. :)

To get back on topic, I had a pt come to the ER because her feet hurt and she had blisters on them! Now, I had already been there for 13 hours, had not sat down to eat or anything, and here was this woman C/O of HER feet hurting!!!! I almost took off my shoes and showed her what my feet looked like, but that would have been considered abuse 'cuz my feet were really ripe at the time I'm sure!! *********. And to top it off, she wanted an excuse to get out of work for the next three days!! The nerve of some people!!:banghead:

As a firefighter/EMT, I have seen a few interesting calls

#1 dispatched for “my baby is chocking”, Arrived to find a 120 lb black lab puppy eating a chicken bone

#2 Not Medical related but dispatched to pet bird in tree will not come down (true story)

And could some one tell me why we can be constipated X 2 weeks, have a headache x 4 days or can’t sleep and have to call at 0300. Does some people’s phone not work during day light hours?

Heard this one from a friend in the ER -- I'd have died laughting.

Mid 20's guy comes in, says he wants to see a doc, he's having problems "down there." Looks and smells like he's coming off a bender. None of the nurses can get him undressed. One of our female docs comes in, he refuses, says he wants a male doc. She told him it's her or the highway. He finally pulls down his pants, and....

His member is superglued to his abdomen.

Seems his girlfriend caught him in bed with another woman, they argued, he passed out, girlfriend wanted to make sure boyfriend didn't get into any more mischief while she was at work.

a 120 poung PUPPY!!!! Good grief. I had a lady come in er once, many moons ago when I worked there for about 4 months who had a false fingernail come off and wanted the doc to put it back on. No kidding
