I had a girl come into the ED about 22:00 one night for a fingernail that she had torn off into the quick. It was bleeding a little bit. I could not help myself. I just started laughing. I said "do you have any idea how long you are going to be here waiting? We have a minimal 10 hour wait. I just got 8 gun shot wounds (no joke, gang thing). Do you really want to hang out here for 10 hours? Put some pressure on it and go home".
