Endorsement fron NM to FL, HELP !!! ??

Published

Hello, I've a license as a RN from New Mexico, and I've been endorsing to Florida, but the Florida Board Of Nursing said that my educational credential, evaluated by Joseph Silny & Associates, is the equivalent to a Practical Nursing Program in USA, and with those educational deficiences I can only sit for NCLEX - LPN or work for a period of 2 years in New Mexico. I do not understand this issue because I already passed a national examination.

Please some help, anyone whit the same problem??

Thank !!!

Let me explain what’s happening, lets say 30 people studied in the same school, the same course at the same time and finish it, 10 of them went to the FLBON to apply for the RN License, they got approve and took the NCLEX and passed and now they are License to work in FL. Other 10 applied 5 days after and got rejected by the FLBON because they said they do not meet the requirements, those people went to New Mexico BON, got approved, took NCLEX text and passed, then went to FLBON and did the endorsement and now they are licensed in FL. The last 10 people did the same procedure and now FLBON don’t want to give them nothing saying they have to work in NM for two years to get the possibility to endorse in FL. The question is: If all those students had the same credentials why FLBON don’t treat them the same way? Is this fair?

Babyheme I don't underestand your question about the test.

My question is: did you amend you application for RN licence by endorsement to LPN by examination here in florida as FloridaNurese38?

That is why I'm asking you if already take LPN exam or no.

Excellent for you, that is exactly what is happening and there is not excuses for this arbitrariness

Not all students that graduate from the same program at the same time have all had the exact same classes as a start. Electives can be different as well as any number of things.

States have the right to make changes to their requirements; this is their option and their rules need to be followed if one wishes to work there. And states will make changes, just like CA started enforcing their rule about having a local license January 1 of this year, if one submitted their application in December, then they do not need the local license; but if submitted after that, they are going to require it and they do not accept any explanations if one is able to sit for the exam.

Florida made this change to their requirements for endorsement of foreign nurses several months back, do not remember the exact date to be sure. But when changes are made like this, it is usually a response to other issues that have been happening there, and there is a reason why it is being done.

Passing of the NCLEX exam for one state does not automatically guarantee that one is going to be able to get licensed in all 50 states, it does not happen with even programs that are offered in the US.

For the 10 that did not meet the requirements, did they actually have hours in all of the required areas, and complete both theory and clinical hours in all of the required areas? States can also have different requirements for the specific hours that are required.

If they were denied, did anyone contact the BON to find out why and the specific reason for this rather than just assuming something?

My filipina friend who's original board is California endorsed her RN license to CNMI and currently working in CNMI for 4 years now.She wants to endorse her RN license to Florida just now. Will her CNMI experience be enough to grant her a Florida license?

She has an approved I 140 from an employer in Florida. PD june 2006.:banghead:

Florida are now requiring that the nurse has 2 years experience in the state they applied for licensure when endorsing. Suggest you check out the Florida BON website. Is she working in the US?

It should be enough as it is a US territory. This is just another title for Saipan.

But again, Florida is getting much tighter now, best would be for your friend to check directly with them. If they will permit it, then they are going to have to get the CES done before Florida will look at their application.
