hi all, this is going to be my second time taking the nclex and i feel prepared for it but it's still hard for me to remember the endocrine system, the signs and symptoms and everything else that's part of it. i know that on my first exam i had a couple of sata and some were on the endocrine system for example cushing, hyperthyroid and i got them wrong, because i was missing an answer. i wanted to know if anyone knows of an easy way to remember the endocrine system and its major symptoms

some , people, get, colds= s= na+, p=k+, g=glocose, c=ca+
for addison= remember theres is a d(as in addision)so start mnemonics to d as(decrease)
s=decrease p = increase g=decrease c=increase
for cushing= remeber thers is a c (as in cushing)so start mnemonics to c as(increase)
s=increase p-decrease g=increase c=decrease
sounds complicated but it helps on my part
god bless everyone
Hope this will help
Cushings :
SSS are increase (sex, sugar, salt hormones) giving you hirsutism and gynecomastia, hyperglycemia, increase aldosterone (increase sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion) = Hypernatremia/Hypokalemia, Increase BP
Addisons
SSS are low , low BP, eternal tan (hyperpigmentation) decrease aldosterone = hyponatremia / hyperkalemia
Hope this helps, I'm open for corrections
Goodluck!

The endocrine portion of HURST is what I really focused on because it was one of my weak areas and it really helped! If you could just some how find this one section of HURST, it may reinforce your understanding.
