hi all, this is going to be my second time taking the nclex and i feel prepared for it but it's still hard for me to remember the endocrine system, the signs and symptoms and everything else that's part of it. i know that on my first exam i had a couple of sata and some were on the endocrine system for example cushing, hyperthyroid and i got them wrong, because i was missing an answer. i wanted to know if anyone knows of an easy way to remember the endocrine system and its major symptoms

Im sorry I don't know a good way to remember it. IDK if i should just keep rewriting all of the s/s over and over again.

I just try and remember the most important pieces of assessment data:
Addisons: low salt and sugar, high potassium and calcium, sexual dysfunction, hypotension, bronze skin, generalized weakness
Cushings: high salt and sugar, low potassium and calcium, weight gain, hypertension, fragile skin, generalized weakness, moon face, hirsutism
Hypothyroidism: think of everything being slowed down so you are constipated, hair doesnt grow and dries out, your heart will slow down, you have cold intolerance, weakness, weight gain
hyperthroidism: everything will speed up so you are tachycardic, hot, may have diarrhea, thin shiny hair, tremors, weight loss

i don't know i read some thready and they said one way to rmb Cushing syndrome and Addison's Disease is:
Cushing - everything cushy except K. which mean pt will has increase H20,BP, Na, Pulse, Wt. but Decrease K.
Addison- everything is Adding. which mean pt will has to add s.th in them cos they have Decrease H20, BP, Glucose, P, Wt., Pigmentation but Increase K.
Thank you all for the tips I will write these down.
These are great tips, thank you so much, wish I posted this earlier

I only remembered Cushings because if you know that you know Addisons.
Cushing Syndrome ------------ Addison's Disease
Increased BP ----- > Decreased BP
Increase Na ------> Decreased Na
Decrease K ------> Increased K
Increase Glucose ------> Decrease Glucose
Increased Weight ------- Decreased Weight

have you tried creating a table and where you can list the difference between the disease. like addisons and cushings? the writing itself will reinforce what you have read, so it would be easier to remember them...
god bless to us all..:)
