Emory Pre-req Questions

Published

Hi there! I'm coming out of lurkdom again. :)

I got my acceptance letter to Emory over the holidays. I'm very excited about attending Fall 2006!

I have two pre-reqs left to complete and I'm a bit worried that I might be in a pickle. Here's the deal:

I've been re-taking some pre-reqs at Georgia Perimeter that were too old to qualify for the program. I retook A&P II last spring and Micro this past fall semester. For Emory, I need to take, according to their website, General Chemistry I and General Chemistry II (with an organic component). They had said at the open house that a nutrition class I had might qualify for the Chem II, but it looks like it didn't.

My first question to anyone who might know is: Does Survey of Chemistry II qualify for the "General Chemistry II (with an organic component)" requirement?

Supposing it does, I can register for Survey of Chemistry I at GPC for the spring semester. However, I don't think Survey of Chemistry II is offered in the summer at GPC, which leaves me in a bit of a bind. Anyone think they would let me take Chem I and II concurrently since I have 3 higher level sciences than Chem I and 3 higher level math classes than the pre-req for Chem I? Or, does anyone think I can take Survey of Chem I at GPC and then Survey of Chem II at GA State as a transient student in the summer? (The GPC and GA State Survey of Chem classes seem almost identical.)

Ok, enough rambling....just having a bit of a panic attack here. Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions/etc.!

I don't think I feel like driving to SC this weekend so I might be good for the weekend.

I'm working business hours til Aug 25. Can meet in evenings or on weekends, or during the day the week of the 28th (except for the common commitments on Tues/Wed we all share!). Have plans Labor Day weekend.

This sunday is starting to look better for everyone, I guess...

Sunday sounds fine. Afternoon?

fine with me, anyone else?

Hmm, no one is answering... maybe next Sunday Afternoon, the sunday before school starts. We have plenty of time now for everyone to create time to go.

So...anyone notice that some of the questions on the drug calc book's practice test have typos in them that leave no right answer? And other questions just have the incorrect answer? Two that really stand out are:

Is an Mg smaller than a mg? (yes.."a mg"...typed just like that) - It says the answer is True.

and

Is Chapter 11 in your book a comprehensive review chapter? - It says the answer is Yes, but Chp 11 is the chapter on insulin dosages.

There was also a dosage problem that, when you look at the explanation, gives the right answer, but that answer is not listed in the multiple choice.

This bugs me. :angryfire

Dur...that should have been "an" up there. *sigh*

one week left, ladies

CAN'T WAIT! :-)

My last day at my job is this Friday. Glad to be done with it and moving on with my future in nursing, but its scary to leave something you are good at for something new!

I think i might try to squeeze out four more days of work next week during orientation and the day off thursday. Anyone know what hours of the day orientation cover?

Orientation is from 8am - 5pm both days. Well, on Tues. it is registration starting at 8am and orientation starting at 8:30am.
