  1. Hi there! I'm in for the fall residency as well! There was an email sent out that had a link to an area for new associates on the website. That site said business casual for the first day. :) I'm hoping for scrubs after that as well!
  2. Just wanted to say welcome from an Emory senior! It's a lot of work, but a lot of fun too!
  3. I'm still here...lurking more than anything. ;-) Halfway through the second semester and gearing up for the scary Med-Surg midterm! Doing well so far though. :)
  4. I took some pre-reqs and re-take classes at Georgia Perimeter. No problem transferring them. :) Now in my second semester at Emory.
  5. I'm finishing up my first semester at Emory and I have the NEAT scholarship as well. I second what blee said. Emory has a great program and I've really enjoyed this semester. :)
  6. I think I'd disagree that Emory is focused on research....maybe more on policy, public health, social responsibility...but I started this fall at Emory and I have never gotten the impression that they are research oriented. Edited after reading dmr and Sookey's response and yes, I agree with them on the nursing research part. I think I misread mt33133's post. Evidence-based practice is prevelant in Emory's teachings and it was one of the reasons I was drawn to the program. I also agree with what dmr said about there being something out there for each of us...you just have to find what fits for you! :)
  7. I'm still here! We all got to meet one another and I think we're just trying to keep our heads above water at the moment. :) You're right, the first couple of weeks are very overwhelming, but it feels, for me at least, that things are starting to level out. I don't think I feel as anxious as I did a week ago. :) And yes, that professor still does fishbowl. I'm actually really excited about that!
  8. Yep...I'd like to get a tag for mine. Can you shop at the ESNA store even if you're not an ESNA member yet? I won't be getting my membership until the end of the week.
  9. I have a lot of supplies already...I have a Littman stethescope, a sphygmomonometer, the pocket thingy with the penlight, bandage scissors, etc. Guess I'll need to see what else they require. I did see this really cool clipboard one time that had a calculator up on the top and med notes on the board part. Very cool.
  10. Are you guys bringing anything other than a notebook/pen, etc.? Like, no books or anything, right?
  11. I'll be the short brunette with the waist-length hair, wearing a black polo and black glasses. :)
  12. I'm taking my drug calc test tonight. I did all the chapters and all the questions from all the chapters and all the chapter practices on the CD. I'm ready!!! We should send each other PMs on Monday night and tell each other what we're going to wear to orientation so we can recognize each other on Tues! :)
  13. Orientation is from 8am - 5pm both days. Well, on Tues. it is registration starting at 8am and orientation starting at 8:30am.
  14. Dur...that should have been "an" up there. *sigh*
  15. So...anyone notice that some of the questions on the drug calc book's practice test have typos in them that leave no right answer? And other questions just have the incorrect answer? Two that really stand out are: Is an Mg smaller than a mg? (yes.."a mg"...typed just like that) - It says the answer is True. and Is Chapter 11 in your book a comprehensive review chapter? - It says the answer is Yes, but Chp 11 is the chapter on insulin dosages. There was also a dosage problem that, when you look at the explanation, gives the right answer, but that answer is not listed in the multiple choice. This bugs me. :angryfire
