EMORY MSN FNP 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, I wanted to start a thread to see if anybody has heard from Emory's early admission round to the MSN FNP part-time 2020 program. The release date was set for Aug 16th and I haven't heard anything yet, making tomorrow almost 2 months late. When I reach out I am told it will be a couple more weeks with no other information and it has been about a month since the last time I reached out. I wanted to see if anybody else was in the same position? Thank you for any information provided.

@Mharris19 how do you know everyone's already been notified? I hope that's not the case...I haven't received a single notification ?

Also, when I called their office today asking what time we'll get notified she said "after 5 pm."

@nursegirl20 Have you tried logging into OPUS? If you don't already have an OPUS account, go to https://opus.emory.edu to "redeem" yours - all applicants should have one. You'll just type in your e-mail address and social security # and it will give you a password to login with. Once you log in, click on the button/tab that says "admissions." I received an e-mail letting me know I had an update to my status in the application portal, but admissions decisions are also posted in OPUS. I have read in threads from previous years that some students were able to view their admissions decision in OPUS before they received their official letters.

I checked my account and all it says is "Application Received". I called their office today and they said that for the FNP program they haven't finalized their decisions. The guy on the phone said they're waiting for the Coordinator to make a decision on who to accept for the cohort and as the decisions are made, they'll let the students know on a rolling basis. He said I'll hear something in the next "few weeks"

@nursegirl20 Thank you so much for looking into that! This makes me feel so much better!!

Congrats to everyone accepted! And for those still waiting, don’t lose hope! Has anyone heard about scholarship offers? I was accepted and now trying to figure out the financial aspect. ?

@HopefulMay Based on threads from previous admissions cycles, I think aid decisions usually go out in mid December.

Thank you! I emailed the financial aid office and they said they will begin releasing them like you said, in December.

Does anyone have any insight on working while in the program? I was accepted for the BSN-DNP program and I know some of the FNP courses are in person. I did an accelerated BSN and was not able to work during it so I don’t think I could afford another 2.5 years without working ?

When I sat down with The directors of the CNM and DNP programs, they made clear that the DNP program being done along with the MSN is more rigorous than just the MSN and my impression was that working would not be an option.

I still haven't heard and it's been 2 weeks ? my app status still only says 'Application Received'. I've kinda given up hope...

@nursegirl20 Don't give up hope! I emailed the assistant admissions lady and she said she still has not received any of the decisions from the admissions team. She said she will update OPUS as soon as she gets the names from them. We will all have either, "admitted, waitlisted or denied". I think they had so many applications for FNP that it is taking longer than expected. They are on break for Thanksgiving, so that is taking up some time, as well. I am thinking we will hear before they go on Christmas break. Either this coming week or the week after!

@Mharris19 that's good to know!! Wow they must've gotten an insane amount of FNP apps then if my application hasn't even been touched. well I guess all I can do is continue to wait patiently!! Thanks for letting me know ?

@nursegirl20 it took them from August to the end of October to make a decision on my application and I got in, so don’t lose hope! I was supposed to hear back the 2nd week of August according to their posted notification dates.
