Emory Fall 2015 Applicants

Published

So the application for the Fall 2015 BSN traditional/ ABSN/MSN has just opened up. I thought it may be nice to start a thread so any of the applicants can check on each others processes and get to know one another..

hi! sorry to bother you, but did you apply for just the fall 2015 msn program? i applied after the initial deadline since they extended it for peds primary care and was wondering whether you have to submit your FAFSA information in order for your application to be considered "complete" and reviewed. any input would be greatly appreciated! congrats on your acceptance!

You don't need to submit your FASFA to be considered at all at any colleges! That's just to get financial aid.

good to know, thank you!

i'm so excited - i got an interview for the pediatric primary care msn program! anyone that has had an interview and wouldn't mind shedding some insight as to how theirs went, i would really appreciate it! trying to prepare some cue question/answers to be as ready as possible! thanks in advance!

I received an email today which notified me that I received the dean's scholarship today. It made my day :)

congrats!

Would you guys mind telling some of your stats? I'm applying next Fall, and my nerves are through the roof already! I have a 3.89 GPA, I'm a full-time human resources manger, I volunteer at the Humane Society weekly, I'm president of my book club, and I'm taking a CNA course this Summer to gain clinical experience. Emory is my absolute DREAM school, but I'm worried that my extracurricular activities won't be enough. I'm currently at GPC finishing up my pre-requisites and need all the tips/advice I can get. Thank you!!

Congrats @charming_kitty !!

@Lohems : Hi! From what I can tell your stats seem great! Emory looks at everything on your application "holistically", but they take the rec letters and essay very seriously. You'll want to make sure you have recommenders who can truly attest to your academic ability and work ethic. All of your activities and volunteer work are great additions to your application, too!

I applied to the ABSN program and got in for fall 2015 (I am not 100% sure if I'm attending yet though). Here are my stats (excluding my GPA....just know it's LOW from my undergrad degree ):

Degree: Civil Engineering

TEAS Score (not required): 92.7

Pre-req GPA: 3.68 (currently in 1152 lecture)

I am also a CNA and I work as a tech at CHOA. I did a lot of new student orientation work in my undergrad and other miscellaneous activities as well (sorority involvement, elementary tutoring, etc).

Getting your CNA and working is the absolute best thing you can do (trust me I KNOW!). It shows you're serious about your career path and the experience you gain will help you out tremendously.

Hope this helps!!

@skaiser3 That is just what I needed to hear! Thank you so much for informing me of the the crucial aspect on the application. I'm elated just to start the CNA course!

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back yet? Just trying to get a feel as to whether I am even on their radar. Although my undergrad GPA is low I have a great pre-req GPA and 7 years healthcare experience.

The deadline for the deposit is May 1 for the first round of accepted students, correct?

Yeah the deposit deadline for ABSN/MSN students was March 1st actually! I don't know about the other programs. I think people will probably drop out for various reasons. Two people just dropped out of ABSN/MSN to go to other schools on the Facebook group so good luck to you! I'm sure you will have a high chance of getting a spot.
