Emory 2021 BSN transfer

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I am currently an undergrad student at Texas, majoring in pre nursing.

I submitted my application to Emory's nursing program for 2021, and had so many question regarding the GER requirement, transfer equivalency, AP scores, etc.

My school does not offer an associate's degree, so I'm a bit confused on how the credit transferring works. Please let me know if anyone can offer some insight!

Thank you so much ?

I'm from CA too and I also applied for some nursing schools in CA. Your 4.0 and license definitely give you lots of points. However, as I remember, TEAS is not optional in CA...

Unfortunately, as a phlebotomist there aren't many CSUs that are taking those hours for points--SJSU just took off their healthcare experience points and SDSU only approves hours for a select few licensed healthcare workers. I believe SFSU might award some points. Even for Chico, I was below the minimum point cutoff for the past 2 years (last two years minimum has been 94, I would be applying with 91 even with the highest TEAS score).

I will be taking the TEAS for my CA schools but I have little hope that I'll get into any of them that I might not take the TEAS more than once--depending on my score I might not report it for Emory if they don't require me to

Ohhh I totally feel you. CSU Chico, San Diego, Sac State's cutoff points are insane. I feel like the only CSU I might have a chance of getting in is CSUEB and they do not open for even fall 2021. They want a 3.8+ GPA, 92+ TEAS, working experience, BSN degree, being bilingual, and a million other things. My 200+ volunteer at the hospital only got 2 points ?

I'm worried I don't have a shot. I just applied for the Oct 15 Priority Deadline. I was pre-med but switched to nursing. Realized this semester that nursing is for me.

I have completed Physiology, Statistics, and Chem 1, but I'm planning on taking the rest of the pre-reqs in the Spring. I have a 4.0 GPA and I have done Bio 1 & 2, Ecology, Genetics, Calculus 1, and Sociology with a 4.0. I'm taking Chem 2, Immunology, and Portuguese right now, so not helping with the rest of the pre-reqs. I submitted an ACT Score of a 33 as well as I haven't taken the TEAS.

I have volunteer experience at a hospital and I'm currently getting my Clinical Medical Assistant Certification and taking my exam in December. I'm fluent in Spanish as well and my mom went to Emory for her BSN and MSN.

I got into Emory for my freshman year but didn't go as it was too expensive to justify it at the time. I would love to be able to go for nursing school.

Hey I think you’re very competitive. Have you taken Micro, Anatomy and Physiology yet? You got 33 on your ACT then the TEAS would be a piece of cake to you!! It’s basic knowledge. I’d say go for it you definitely have shot!

I haven't taken Anatomy or Microbiology. I have exposure to Anatomy though from my various biology classes. They didn't specify if they prefer TEAS over ACT. They just stated ACT, SAT, TEAS, or GRE but then said if you have a 3.5 GPA you don't have to submit a score.

Have anyone who got waitlisted received an admission offer? Applied for regular decision 1 and got waitlisted for Fall 2021.

Got accepted for the early decision 2, but I still have not gotten my FA package and I sent my information months ago. I called them last week and they said it was processing. I’d imagine if that’s the case for everyone else, you won’t see people coming off the waitlist until FA packages start rolling in.

Congratulations!! I hope you get a good FA package. Thank you for the information and I'm going to cross my fingers!

Hi! I was waitlisted back in August and haven't heard back. I honestly don't know if we'll hear back anytime soon.

I just got accepted! I think what really helped was that I wrote a letter of continued interest to Emory. Within a week, I was offered admission. I think you can give it a try if you haven't!

Hey! I uploaded it to the application portal, emailed it to the general nursing's and dean's emails (contact us page). If you emailed the general nursing email and received any responses back from anyone - they generally include their own emails in there. You can cc it to them as well!

Right after I sent my LOCI, I got a response back from the general nursing's email that they will add it to my application (but I also uploaded it to the portal). But try to email it to the dean's email as well.

I think my stats are similar to yours. Around 3.9 GPA, no healthcare work experiences, in progress for A&P 1,2, and Microbiology.

I wish you luck!
