Hi - I was recently accepted to Emory's Accelerated BSN/MSN Program for Summer 2010. Has anyone else been accepted?
Hello Everyone, and Congratulations! There seemed to be a mix up with our email accts being activated. I talked to the IT help desk (404-727-7777) around noon today and confirmed my account wasn't activated. You can "test" the emory.edu email in OPUS. If it still hasn't been activated, you will get an smtp error message. B/c the help desk agent could see that I was an admitted student, she went ahead and started a ticket for activation.
If you haven't already, you can log into ENID https://enid.emory.edu/idm/user/login.jsp. Your user ID and password are the same as OPUS. From there, you can do a few things to make your life easier if you haven't already...1) From "Select an email name" You can pick a "normal" email instead of the odd one preassigned (e.g. [email protected] instead of jdoe15). You will get a few options based on your legal name to choose from. This establishes an alias to your account so that you can remember it 2) Perhaps most importantly until they get this fixed, select "Edit @emory.edu email destination." You can then have all email that goes to your .edu address forwarded to a personal email address until you feel comfortable with the new system. 3)Towards the top there is a "Password" tab. That allows you to change from the system assigned to one you choose (it must be alphnumeric, 8 char and have @ least 1 capital letter)
The IT agent I spoke with said that my email account was set up to work only with owa.emory.edu as GypsyGirl mentioned above. That is the regular University/student email system. Someone mentioned last night that we should access OWA through the school of Nursing's website on the "current student" page. That is the OWA for Emory Healthcare, and I believe it is a different email server. By late today, I was able to test the email on OPUS and successfully get it forwarded to my personal email, but I was never able to sign in successfully to either of the OWAs (Em Univ or Em HC). Having the email forwarded, though, keeps me from worrying that I am missing an important email from the .edu account.
I emailed Katie earlier to let her know that my problem was temporarily resolved through forwarding, but it looks like many of us are experiencing the same issue. I'd recommend testing your email in OPUS. If it indicates you don't have an active account, call IT support and have them activate it. In the interim, go to ENID and set up your emory.edu email to forward to your personal email account.
Sometimes the OWA directories take a little while to update, so I'd try again in 48 hrs. In the meantime, you can receive your emory emails @ your personal account and know you aren't missing anything while they work out the activations, populate the directory and then confirm which OWA we should use. I'm sure they'll get the bugs out soon.
I look forward to meeting more of you in the next 2 months!
Hi all, congrats on your acceptances! I just found this thread. I am also accepted for the FNM specialty, but my letter states that I will start in the Fall. So confused? Is everyone else starting in the summer for the BSN/MSN Segue program?
My head is spinning trying to figure out where to go. I have heard such wonderful things about Emory, but I was accepted to Yale & Columbia and waiting to hear from UCSF. I think financial aid will help me make a decision. I do really love that Emory is committed to serving underserved populations and the FNM track, sooo, we'll see.
I have not rec'd any emails about open houses, but just rec'd an email about my Emory email. Was the open house info sent there? Sorry I missed it. I really want to go visit the school.
Just thought I would let you know that we don't use owa.emory.edu. Maybe they just didn't set our class up to use that, I dunno. We've been using webmail.service.emory.edu. Maybe that will help those of you having problems logging in to the email. I don't particularly like the layout of this server, but you can always forward your mail to an outside address. HTH.
Wow, I am so bummed. I sent my app in early this fall and rec'd an early response from Emory (I think mid Dec) but didn't realize there was an Accelerated BSN/MSN program. I applied to the BSN/MSN Segue program and accepted as a fall-start. I think they may have posted the info after I downloaded my application materials. Ahh well.
Hi All!
I am so excited to start this program and feel very lucky, despite the debt I will take on. Anyways, I am in the Family Medicine track and I saw the calender for the summer semester, but I was wondering if anyone knew when we would be starting up again in the fall? I am coming from Seattle and am trying to figure out flights.
Thanks!
Based on Emory's academic calendar the Fall semester begins August 25.

Try http://owa.emory.edu. You should be able to login using the same username and password that you use for Opus.
