Hi - I was recently accepted to Emory's Accelerated BSN/MSN Program for Summer 2010. Has anyone else been accepted?
lbaldwin - Regarding the apartment post, my name is Elizabeth. I forgot no one can see our actual names with the screen names! My boyfriend currently lives in TX but is moving to SC by the time school starts. I'm really glad I'm not the only person whose is afraid to live alone.
I asked when they opened the program how many spaces they were having. They told me they would like about 35ish but would take a few more if they wanted to. I think they weren't sure how popular the program would be since it's accelerated and they announced it late.
Do we have to have a data plan for the phone?
My name is Lauren. We can definitely talk more about the apartment search on Tuesday if you want. I have looked a little bit and it seems like there are plenty of reasonable places to live. I really don't want to spend more than $400 per person! We have a mortgage payment as well so we are trying to keep the costs low. I don't mind your boyfriend visiting at all. My husband might come down a few times from Athens so we can experience Atlanta for once, but in general I will probably be in Athens most weekends.
I think we probably do need the data plan. I can't remember exactly but I definitely know that we need a blackberry or iphone. With iphone you have to have the data plan. My cell phone plan was up in December so I just switched to the iphone.
I hope we don't need new computers. I have a fairly new Mac and love it.
I am definitely worried about financial aid stuff. I didn't apply for Fuld b/c I felt it was a complete long shot. I did apply for some outside scholarships not through Emory but have not heard about any of them yet. Has anyone else found any great scholarships?
For some reason I can't figure out how to send personal messages! I think $800 a month is very reasonable. I have searched extensively for apartments and it seems that most of them fall in the $800 per month category for a 2 bed. We can check it out more though. I have searched on craigslist and through the emory off campus housing finder. I also found a great site for the PA students that had a list of all of the apartments near emory. $800 for a 2 bed seems pretty accurate, but of course there are much more expensive ones as well. I was just looking for a standard 2 bed in an apartment complex. Nothing too special, but nice with good amenities and proximity to nursing school.
You have to post 15 times on the boards to be able to send private messages. I found a board to ask a question and gave a bit of advise about campus jobs, so I could do private messages.
I guess mostly you just have to visit and see what they look like. Plus more roommates =lower rent and more people to walk home or to school it is dark (though I don't recommend over 4 people). Currently I live with three other girls and we all have boyfriends who hang around a lot. Eight people in the kitchen trying to cook dinner is too much.
Can't wait til Tuesday!
